Modnation demo
Modnation demo
So, i figured i would download the demo and check it out. After playing with it for about 15 minutes...ahhhhh Mario Kart is still better... to bad.
Re: Modnation demo
After playing both the demo and the beta.... the demo is leaving so much of the full game out!
For starters, there is a whole "Starting Area" that is like a city square that all of the online players gather to have fun, show off their cool stuff, and to look at banners with the fastest lap times, most popular maps, most popular Avatars, etc. Also, the character customization is so amazingly complex and user friendly, and the maps and avatars are easily shared amongst anyone. The demo literately leaves out the best parts of the game that I've experienced, the online pizazz!
Also left out for obvious reasons, 4 player split screen multiplayer, voice chat online, etc.
Seriously, if you like kart racers at all, this game must be experienced!

Re: Modnation demo
This did it.
Mario Kart is dead to me.
This feels _right_. The driving is a little more skillful (re: you can fuck yourself over, so pay attention), and you have the offensive/defensive choices to make throughout the game. The fact that you can burn your power-ups on shielding yourself from attacks is a huge boon.
Besides that, I love the style of the game. But, I've been somewhat into the whole vinyl toy thing for a long time, now.
The only downside is the announcer. At least he can, mercifully, be muted. And the fact that the racers don't make any real ambient noises unto themselves.
The one thing I thought would be a bit of a turn-off, is not. You _can_ infuse your little modperson with a great deal of personality. I was surprised at how awesome that aspect was.
The game is gorgeous. I only hope that there are more environments, ambient sounds and cool effects users could incorporate. One thing the specialized racers do have over this, so far, is being able to race inside environments (castles, etc.). Hopefully, thats simply something missing from the demo.
Cheers,
Jon
