Sega Saturn Action Replay compatability

Post by Retrozoa »

Hi, I was just curious if a US Model 2 Saturn with an Action Replay Pro 4m can play PAL region games. I've never tested this, and wanted confirmation before getting a PAL saturn game. Thanks in advance.

Just curious what games were PAL that are worth asking? Or is PAL the same as JPN??

PAL is europe and australia. The game I was looking to get was a demo disc from the UK for a Panzer Dragoon game.

It'll work great as long as the game is not PAL optimized, Panzer Dragoon 1+2 is, Saga is not.

So...Panzer dragoon saga would work? Ok, good to know at least that one would work. Thanks.

So, a game that is PAL "optimized" won't work at all or will it just display incorrectly? I was really hoping to import a copy of Deep Fear at some point...

From the page:
PAL OPT = Games that work best in 50hz (Sega of Europe, spent time on converting then) playing these games at 60hz will result in overscan at the top and bottom of the tv screen.
So it'll work, it'll just show up funny.

Incidentally, does anyone know of any JP games that will NOT work with an action replay? I've heard that the JP version of Panzer Dragoon Saga displays a 'remove the cartridge' message when you try to play it. I just wondered if this was true or if any other games do this.

Edit: Nevamind, found what I was looking for.
