Many people feel obligated to watch mediocre movies like Iron Man 2. The hype machine has never been more efficient.

I'm now watching Ils (Them) and it's not scary so far. I'm disappoined.

Image

Edit - Well the movie was more tragic than scary SPOILERS the background to the story is very true. The scandal of Romania's neglected "sewer orphans" was quite depressing.

I really liked this movie, and found it to be kind of scary, more so than The Strangers which totally ripped off of this movie

I saw Iron Man 2 a few days ago. I liked the first one better, but it was good. Part of my motivation to see it was that I hadn't seen a movie in the theater since Up, and I was itching to see one.

I enjoyed Them also. I found it creepy in a "watching strangers kill someone you love while you can do nothing, but leave them and try to survive yourself" kind of way. I def wouldn't have felt guilty about smashing those kids heads in. They're kids, I understand, but I prioritize my life by who is most important to me. My wife is of course most important, if need be, everyone else dies to save her.

Watched Grace the other night. It was pretty good in a low budget kind of way. I have said it before and I will say it again, I love me some Jordan Ladd and I think she was very good in this film. Beautiful as usual. There were some things that bothered me, plot holes I suppose. Mainly the stupid assistant to the holistic doctor who knew bad things were happening and refused to call the police - yes, she was trying to force Ladd's character to call the real doctors, but if you know things are as extreme as they are why not call 911 yourself?

Also so The Machinist for the first time. Pretty clever film and pretty eerily done. My one problem - I understand Christian Bale lost a buttload of weight for this film and it annoyed the hell out of me that he spent the majority of the movie trying to bring attention to it. Looking in the mirror at how thin he is, the hooker commenting on it, looking into the mirror again, the waitress commenting on it, looking in the mirror again. I didn't feel like this needed to be done more than one time. I understand that the weight of his emotions regarding what happened caused him to let himself go - his outer appearance reflected how he felt about himself, give the viewers some credit. Realize that they are capable of figuring some things out, especially in a movie that is trying to be vague and mysterious at the same time.

The Cable Guy (1996) - Jim Carrey, Matthew Broderick

In the immortal words of Chip Douglas: "The future is now! Soon every American home will integrate their television, phone and computer. You'll be able to visit the Louvre on one channel, or watch female wrestling on another. You can do your shopping at home, or play Mortal Kombat with a friend from Vietnam. There's no end to the possibilities!"

This flick gets better every time I watch it, Carrey and Broderick are at their absolute best in their performances. I've had the DVD since like 2003 and it's been played so often that I'm gonna have to look for a new copy soon.

On my day off yesterday, i watched in order:

Zombieland

Public Enemies

Idle Hands

Live Free or Die Hard

I havent seen Idle Hands in a few years, but that movie is just fantastic. Its just a dumb horror flick but its really entertaining, and Seth Green really steals the show...

Amen. People always look at me askance when I tell them that Cable Guy is far and away the best Jim Carrey movie.

I liked it. Odd to see a movie where kids cuss so much, though.
