Bought a Saturn, now looking for some info/advice on Sega
Re: Bought a Saturn, now looking for some info/advice on Sega
To add to that Dreamcast list, Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves has seen a drastic price drop in the last couple of years, according to Video Game Price Charts, and you might be able to acquire it for around $25-$35. That's a pretty big might, mind you.

Just to be the voice of dissent, I think Nights is boring, I don't care for racing games, and I'm not big on fighting games. So only PD and DHA on that list appeal to me. A fine suggestion post, just go read some reviews and watch some gameplay videos from those suggestions.Original_Name wrote: Must-haves under $25 regardless of taste:

@Ack: Oh really? I had no idea the price had dropped since I had been collecting Dreamcast games.
@Hobie-Wan: Hahaha, well I'd say they're all worth a try at the very least!

Re: Bought a Saturn, now looking for some info/advice on Sega
Wow... thanks for the suggestions. Quite a lot to go through. I do have Sega Rally, Virtua Cop, and Sonic R coming in the mail. At least it is something to play.
First: I don't have much room for a CRT TV in addition to the TV I already have. So a light gun is out of the question for me now and in the foreseeable future. Eventually though!
Second: Shinobi Legions has my name all over it. I will definitely work on getting that.
Also I don't know how much I'll be able to explore into the Saturn. I'm not convinced it is a system I'm willing to invest A LOT of money in to, which seems like is necessary to get the goods of the Saturn.
I may have to focus more on the Dreamcast.
Titles I will definitely look in to, besides the main ones I've already mentioned:
Nights into Dreams (Sorry Hobie-Wan, I've heard WAY too many good things
)
Panzer Dragoon (I know nothing about these games)
Fighters Megamix
Clockwork Knight
Die Hard Arcade (maybe)
Now on to the Dreamcast:
Sonic Adventures 1,2 Definitely
Fur Fighters
Soul Calibur (addicted to SCII on the cube)
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (should I get this on the Dreamcast or PS2?)
Shenmue
Skies of Arcadia
Toy Commander
I'll need to do some more research on Rez. Sounds very interesting. Looks like it may be a PS2 purchase (due to price). Is it the same thing?
Also I bought Space Channel 5 the other day. Heard good things, but haven't played it yet.
Thanks a ton for the help! Feel free to keep it coming!

Re: Bought a Saturn, now looking for some info/advice on Sega
Well, if you go by the Video Game Price Charts, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is considerably cheaper on the Sega Dreamcast, so that would decide it for me. And it's considered the closest to the arcade.
Re: Bought a Saturn, now looking for some info/advice on Sega
Thanks Ack! That game has been very high on my wishlist of games for any system!
I didn't know how the two compared to each other. A better version for cheap sounds good to me

Re: Bought a Saturn, now looking for some info/advice on Sega
Didn't read through all this but I'll recommend some games:
Clockwork Knight, not bad, could be better.
Astal
Gex is ok as well
Hang on GP, very fast and fun racing game
Sonic R, lots of stuff to unlock. Once you have there's not much too it though.
Scorcher - you race around in an orb type thing. I haven't actually played it but it's on my want to buy list. Looks fairly original
Cyber Speedway - decent racing game with a pointless story
I think the saturn is probably a good system if you're into fighting games and importing japanese shooters. If you're not it's an ok system with a few great games, which is how I view it. As a kid it was just "that sega system that sonic xtreme never came out for".

I have both versions. Both are great! Dreamcast version has more kick to the beat of the shots with a Mad Katz light up puru pack. Look for the Beta K=Project with different music as well.l0whit07 wrote:I'll need to do some more research on Rez. Sounds very interesting. Looks like it may be a PS2 purchase (due to price). Re: Bought a Saturn, now looking for some info/advice on Sega
Hey everyone thanks again for all the help and suggestions.
I do have some bad news though. I definitely will be getting rid of the Saturn and possibly the Dreamcast. I was really hoping to get in to these systems, but I'm going to be moving all over the place here in a few months and I just cannot drag all of my games and systems around with me.
Most of the Saturn games I want to play have been ported to other systems in "Mega Collections" "Ultimate" "Smash Pack", you know all of those collection games. So I will probably just settle and play them that way.
As far as the Dreamcast goes, I just do not know yet. I'd love to keep it, but I don't know why I would need to. A lot of the games I want it for, I can also play on other systems.
This really sucks because I did buy quite a few things to get me started on both of these systems. I'd rather not leave it all sitting in storage for who knows how long.
Again thanks a ton everyone who helped me out. Its been fun playing them while I had them. I guess they will be going to my BST thread, along with a ton of my other games

I'm sorry to hear that l0whit07. Good luck with the moving, I hope it all works out, and if you ever become interested in either console again and feel you've got the space, come back and let us know and we'll be more than happy to suggest titles for you again.
