It's looking like they could be interesting. I think that the Republicans will probably retake some ground lost in the previous two elections. I don't know if they'll make big gains, but I don't think they're going to lose more ground this time. The Democrats have been in power too long with little to no improvement, which is never good for incumbents.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I have never really seen any topics like this on Racketboy. If political topics are not allowed, I didn't know, so please don't flame me.
So how do you think this year's elections will turn out?

Politics suck. Keep this shit out of the forums, it's just asking for biased jackasses to come in and fire everybody up.
Older. Not wiser.

No matter what happens, we lose. Government is a farce these days. The only people with any say are businesses or special interest groups.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Republicans will gain some ground just because that group has gotten so riled up over the last year and a half. Not that who gets in will make any difference.

I agree, until people who play and collect games like Custer's Revenge, Leisure Suit Larry, and Rumble Roses XX are sent to government re-education camps.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Politics suck. Keep this shit out of the forums, it's just asking for biased jackasses to come in and fire everybody up.

Yes, I to am a little lost here in American politics. The weird thing is, American politics has an impact even here, in Sweden. I don't think it should have but it does.Incognito D wrote:we just had a massive thread on the British election and no one noticed!RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Politics suck. It's election year in Sweden now and I'm hoping for a change in power. We elected the liberals last election (which as far as I can tell is the Swedish version of the American Republicans) and they haven't done so great. I'm going to vote for our green party, which is in cahoots with out Socialist parties (very mild socialism, I might ad). I usually vote for the socialists but their new head is not fit to run a country and the other socialist party is a little too extreme and "politically correct" for me. So I'm just gonna vote for the treehuggers and hope they bring some change.

Generally we hold an election every two years, though sometimes we'll hold special elections for certain reasons. It's because of the way our government is set up, specifically our legislature. In the House of Representatives, Representatives serve a two year term, so every two years they must fight for re-election. The House is based on population numbers, so larger states receive more Congressmen.Incognito D wrote:we just had a massive thread on the British election and no one noticed!RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Politics suck. The Senate features only two individuals per state, so its membership is capped at 100. Senators serve a six year term. So the 2010 election will mainly feature people vying for House and Senate positions.
And then individual states will hold their own elections, such as in my state, Alabama, where the Governor, Attorney General, numerous state legislature, and even a few state Supreme Court positions are up for grabs(yes, we elect our state Supreme Court here). Democrats have controlled the legislature for the last 135 years in Alabama, so I doubt that will change. But our current Republican governor has reached the end of his term limits and can't run, so who knows who will win.
And in 2012 we'll do it again, including the presidency. Obama will likely seek re-election, and while we can speculate on his opposition, none of it's concrete yet. We'll start hearing all about that in 2011.
