miyamoto talks zelda. makes me afraid for it.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Nintendo is "creating a new way to play the game," said the developer. "We are trying to make Zelda, which has become very complicated, easier to play,"
so zelda is going to be easier, i guess. That is kinda... ok... whatever.

What really blew my mind was this...
According to Miyamoto, when making a game, Nintendo traditionally creates a demo movie and expands upon the ideas contained therein. However, for the new Zelda, the company first created the game mechanics and then made a demo video to match. He wouldn't elaborate on the reason for the reversal.
wait... what? They make a movie and then make a game around the movie? I don't understand how that could ever lend itself to be a good game building technique.

I've seen this pop up a few times, honestly to me it sounds more like they're wanting to streamline the control scheme.

If this really is what they've always done, then well, I'm not about to question Miyamoto of all people's design habits.

the "easier to play" comment is probably having to do with how most people hated Twilight Princess' Wii-mote controls and opted for the GCN version because of this.

I wouldn't worry too much. The internet community likes to create a lot of drama these days about Nintendo "going casual", but look at Super Mario Galaxy. That was classic, and the sequel looks to be equally good, so I'm sure Zelda will turn out fine too.

Balderdash! At least Nintendo doesn't have a monopoly on these trivial pursuits. With some concentration, you could guess who's the mastermind behind this trouble. Scrabble.

Well now we know the real reason for the motion control. It was all for the Pop-o-Matic Bubble!

Let's also remember that Miyamoto has a tendency to not explain himself very well when interviewed.
Thanks everyone...

The movie thing does sound odd, I wish they'd explain that more but I doubt that'd ever happen. I really like the idea of streamlining things a bit more, 3d Zelda games never clicked with me, if it felt a little more like one of the 2d games I think I'd like it much better.
