Craigslist is possible the best route to go. You could get lucky and find a set or lot of a Sega Saturn with Games. Also invest in a Action Replay cart for playing imports.

My advice would be to get what I have: a modded Saturn with switches for multiregion gaming. If you are living in PAL land then you should also look for one with a 50/60hz switch since its no fun playing PAL games in 50hz.
I got mine from ebay and its served me very well (although I would have loved it to be a white Japanese model rather than the PAL one I have). The Saturn is such a bulky machine that owning multiple consoles can be impractical. A switched Saturn will solve all your problems in this area.
Also make sure you get some sort of backup memory cart as relying on cell batteries isn't a chance worth taking.

My first, I bought from eBay.
My second, I bought from an independent game store called Software Seconds in Columbia, SC. I went there while visiting a friend who lived there, and figured "Why the hell not?"

My first I bought from a games shop. However they seem to be a lot harder and more expensive to find now. Mine recently broke and I managed to get a new one off Amazon. They seemed to go for higher prices on Ebay though, which is why I bought it from Amazon. There's a few specialist online shops around that sell modded saturns and different versions etc.

Try posting a "Want To Buy" ad on craigslist. I just picked up a console with Shining the Holy Arc for $20, also came with 3d controller and regular controller.

Bought mine from a retro game store in a mall in austin texas in about 2001. Gamefellas it was called I believe. They had a double sided shelf filled with saturn games. God I wish I had had more money back then.

The Saturn I own now I have had since 1998. A guy I worked with at Radio Shack was moonlighting at Walmart. He let me know Walmart had delisted the systems to $29.99 and there were stacks of them in specific stores in the US. I had him ship one in for me.
It was the 3rd Saturn I had purchased. The first one was purchased NIB from Toys R Us for around $49.99 on the day Street Fighter Alpha 2 dropped. For whatever reason I sold that system to a friend. The 2nd Saturn I owned was purchased at Funcoland (may they RIP), used. I gave that 2nd system to my good friend when I purchased the one I own now.
