Re: The best PS2 wireless controller. (in my opinion)
Just found this and I have to say the Katna wireless controller seems to share a great many similarities, maybe the US version we got was a reskin/case modification?

Just look at how similar and plasticy the sticks look and the shape and size of the D-Pad is identical.

No one's mentioned the officially licenced wireless PS2 controller made by Sega?
It beat's all the others out of the water. Although it's a little hard to find and expensive when you do. The katana is a good alternative in my opinion.

You mean the Sega Surf Wave? The person above you did?
The Surf Wave is an improved version of the Fountech Airstyle controller (2.4GHz compared to 900MHz). It supposedly boasts 1000hours on 2 AA batteries(vibration off), while Katana requires 3 AAs for up to 50hours. Not sure if Katana has turbo, but Surf Wave does. So while the designs are similar, the innards are definitely different.
Not many heard of it as it was sold mainly in Asia region. It was also exported by Lik-Sang in its days, but think the high price tag deterred many?
The Sega Surfwave also has its problems. Seems there was a batch that buttons would auto-press themselves over a period of play, so it was recalled back, leaving fewer in the market.
Off-topic a bit, does anyone have any idea how to (or if it's possible) to connect two Sega Surf Waves to the same receiver? Read it could support up to 8 controllers on one receiver.

wait if 8 controllers could work with one receiver how would the ps2 KNOW it was plugged in? controller 2-6 would be empty also do you have receiverless sega surf controllers? why ask?

Re: The best PS2 wireless controller. (in my opinion)
Research online said up to 8 could be used together, so not too sure if I misconstrued. Maybe what it meant was up to 8 controllers could be used without interfering with each other, which would make more sense I suppose.
Have a pair, one does not have the receiver. Hoping that I could get it to share a receiver. Or at least, let each be recognised by the same receiver. Now I have one working one, the other does not see the receiver. Not sure if I missed any steps (or if its even possible) as I bought them loose without the packaging and instructions (and it took me a long while to learn that "power turbo" are separate
)

Came across this piece of info that seems rather useful. Didn't feel like making another post just for this, so editing old post
If you have problems with the Logitech wireless controllers analogs (which I heard occurs frequently), you may wish to try this

Question:
How do I re-calibrate the Logitech Cordless Action Controller for PlayStation®2?
Answer:
Normally there is no reason to re-calibrate the Logitech Cordless Action Controller for PlayStation2. In rare cases where the mini-joysticks may need to be re-calibrated, you can use the process below. Please note that this process only works for the Logitech Cordless Action Controller for PlayStation2.
1. Remove one battery.
2. Hold the L1 and L2 buttons while re-inserting the battery. (NOTE: Do not touch or move the mini-joysticks at all during this time. It is very important that the mini joysticks are allowed to center themselves during this step or the calibration procedure will not be successful.)
The mini-joysticks should now be re-calibrated. Please note that in some cases you may need to resynchronize the gamepad and receiver after this procedure. For more information on resynchronizing this device please see Knowledge Base Article 437.

Thanks for the link. 1000 hours on a set of batteries is pretty incredible. I think the Wavebird has been the best for me on getting the most amount of hours (around 100+).zerexerez wrote:You mean the Sega Surf Wave? The person above you did?
