Say what you want about Marathon/Halo, but Myth 1 and 2 are groundbreaking and amazing games! I remember buying Myth1 and being astounded that a RTS game could be fun. I never cared for Warcraft, C&C etc.

I had one film where I had a single dwarf take out literally hundreds of zombies with just a few grenades. Its damn fun, has good graphics and there really hasn't ever been anything like it since.

I never tried Myth3, I think it was produced by a different company. But I'd love to see another game in the Myth series.

From what I remember about Marathon's attractiveness was that it was for the Mac. "See, Mr. DOS Boy? We have an FPS too!" or something. Looking at that gamefaqs link it seems Marathon 2 was made for Windows. I don't think most Windows players even knew that.

Most didn't, which I'm sure is the reason why we didn't get Infinity. At the time that Marathon 2 came out on DOS, most PC gamers were swept up in the Duke Nukem 3D and Quake hype/love. It didn't help that most people in the PC community had never really heard of the series before at that point, that the physics were quite a bit different from what most people were used to, and that the engine was already a year old and not terribly well optimized for Windows.

We did score ZPC out of it, but that's really only notable for its graphics. On the gameplay scale, it's right up there with Chex Quest and PO'ed. :(
(but hey, who doesn't love Brute's artwork?)

the multiplayer on marathon was awesome and very innovative for its time (or so i've read). that's the main draw for me, plus the nostalgia factor.

and i agree bungie is overrated. oni for pc is a trainwreck but nowhere near as bad as the ps2 port.
