Are you joking? 360. I mean, all 3 seem boring to me, but the choice is still obvious.

Got PS2 and PS1 games that you'd love to play on your HDTV via component or HDMI? Want to watch BluRay movies? Already know of a couple of PS3 games you want that are out?

If yes, then get a PS3.

Otherwise, pick up a new 360 and bask in the ever growing library of games. Tons of good stuff available on the cheap (and tons of good stuff available almost on the cheap), native WMV HD support, and a 3 yr manufacturer warranty against the dreaded red ring of death.

If you fall into this category, better act fast. The new mainstream 40gb PS3 removes both software and hardware backwards compatibility altogether...

About the PS3, its amazing how brand loyalty can evaporate easily. I bought a PS1 on launch day and loved it; bought a PS2 on launch day (actually lined up overnight at wal-mart starting at 5am or something!). But I don't have any desire whatsoever to buy a PS3. The launch game lineup was truly atrocious, and a year later and I still haven't seen anything that justifies the PS3's existence. Its a really sad fall from grace for Sony...

When Microsoft entered the console arena with the Xbox my friends and me all laughed - figuring they had no clue and would probably produce an expensive flop (sort of like Microsoft Zune). But over the last few years they've done alot right with Xbox and now the 360.

Does it really matter about them taking away the backward compatability? I mean I've read the compatibility list and all of my games that are remotely interesting to me to play on a ps3 all have the "plays but with major graphical glitches" or somthing along those lines next to the name.

So it's basically another reason that makes me not want to waste a grand on the ps3.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

I'm leaning on getting a PS3, 60GB model. I still play PS2 games, I need WiFi (M$ want $130 for a wifi card) and a lot of games are looking pretty promising (a la Killzone 2, Resistance, Folklore etc).

I don't want a system that'll break or nickel and dime my wallet to death.

It's basically their way of giving up on a broken feature. Nintendo really has a track record going for BC, considering their handheld line and the Wii perfectly handling GC titles.
