Why Wii play

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Of the three next gen consoles which would you buy? If you own one pretend you don't for a moment.

I voted 360. I think it has become the PS2 of this gen. It has more games, Xbox Live is awesome. I never thought I'd be into online gaming, but I love it. Downloadable games are great. The fact that I can download TMNT the arcade game on my console is cool, and the achievements system gives me a reason to keep replaying it. Of course I've already experienced the other side of owning a 360. I bought an elite on launch day and it's already in Texas being repaired. It didn't red ring, the disc drive just stopped working one day.

The Wii, which I also own, is great too. We can play video games with my parents and uncles, etc. when they come to our house. And they get it! And like it! How awesome is that? It's also nice to play Cube games with component video on my big LCD screen. Virtual Console is OK, but if they had some type of online, even leader boards, it would be better. I'm looking forward to Wii Ware. It would be pretty cool if a smaller studio could develop a new SNES title and release it for download on the Wii. Nintendo could even release new worlds for Super Mario Brothers. Now that's episodic content I could get into!

I'll buy a PS3 after they add rumble, at least one more price drop, have more to offer online, and have more games. Also I need to pay off my credit card thanks to the above mentioned LCD!

I have the Wii because:
It's cheap.
It can play my Gamecube games (so I saved space by selling that).
The new control scheme got me interested in this gen to start with (I probably wouldn't have bothered if it was just all graphical upgrades).
Promising games on the pipeline like Smash Bros and Mario Galaxy.

I would probably buy a 360 if I was to get either of the other two, but the price is too steep, plus you have to pay for Live, and pay for the downloads on that as well. That and they still seem reliable enough for me to want to blow that kind of money. I would defiantly like to own one for Live arcade and Sega's stuff on it, though (not interested in all the FPS hype trains), especially if After Burner Climax got a port =D

Just a note on the 65nm 360. I read on Dailytech its out right now - in the Halo 3 X360 package. I'm not sure if its in regular 360s yet or not. But I'd think it will be in all new 360s sold by Christmas.

At this point I'm very worried about my 360. I'm on my first one, and it will be one year in November since I bought it. Since I have had no RRD problems or anything, I only have a 1 yr warranty. So my worst fear is the 360 failing after November - I wouldn't be eligible for the 3yr extended warranty anymore...

The X360 is fast and cheap but the whole melting itself thing would probably get a bit boring .
I hope that Microsoft bring out the 65nm cpu in February like they say they will.

Now the Wii like I say ain't all that much cheaper. While eating breakfast I looked through a catalogue of a local store and they had a Wii and X360 for the same price ( bar maybe about ten bucks) the Wii came with a game and an extra controller and the 360 came with 2 games.

I'm not sure how concerned I'd be. Several of my friends have 360's ,and some have had them since launch and none of them have had issues. I just wouldn't get one unless I was completly sure that it wouldn't die on me.

Fingers crossed, I hope your correct cos microsoft need to do something about it.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Well, the 360s can only get cheaper/more reliable from here.

I will buy a 360 for Ninja Gaiden 2 alone if it turns out to be half as good as Black on the X-Box. I am no Halo fan, but Halo 3 multiplayer sounds like a blast as well. Devil May Cry 3, Dead Rising, Forza 2, PGR 4, the new Splinter Cell, and a few others I'm forgetting are just icing on the cake compared to Ninja Gaiden 2.

I think Ninja Gaiden Black is the masterpiece of last generation.

I currently have my friends Wii while he's busy with work. He left me with Metroid Prime 3, and it's awesome, although I really don't care much for the Wii control setup at all. It takes some getting used to, and actually works well with Metroid Prime 3, but I can't help feeling that it would be better with a conventional controller (for me anyway). I think I'll be getting a 360 sooner or later, as there's a heap of games I actually want to play for that system, and so far for the Wii, there's 2 (Metroid and the new Mario when it comes out).
