Don't get me wrong, Mario Kart Wii is still fun, but I still prefer the N64 and SNES versions - which is kind of disappointing as the series could have progressed into so much more.
Anyway, here are things that annoy me or that I would change.
- get rid of the shitty filler characters. Baby Peach, Toadette - what the fuck?!
- tone down the weapons - no more blue shell
- bikes? no. I'd prefer to see the return of standard karts only. Karts that hop and slide round corners and don't bounce off one another upon collision.
Basically, Mario Kart 64 with better visuals. This is all I ask.
On a side note, a leaked document claiming to list the games being shown off at this year's E3 mentions Mario Kart Wii 2. It's probably fake, but I just thought I'd mention it.

My daughters (7 & 10) would disagree with you here. Gaming is not just for boys, you know. They also really like the Toads in New Super Mario Bros Wii.Incognito D wrote: - get rid of the shitty filler characters. Baby Peach, Toadette - what the fuck?!

I can agree with some of the points, but you need a balancer in a game like this, the blueshell works better than randomly speeding you up.
Give me Mario Kart 64 with a track editor, 16 player battles (Online AND LAN), and oh the Double Dash character list and Ill be a happy happy man.

You know what would be cool? If they remade Mario Kart 64 for the Wii. Same game, just update the graphics. Maybe add some new content, but stuff that wont change the core game (additional unlockable cups, more arenas, online play, etc).Incognito D wrote:Basically, Mario Kart 64 with better visuals. I would absolutely love that if it were true!Incognito D wrote:On a side note, a leaked document claiming to list the games being shown off at this year's E3 mentions Mario Kart Wii 2. It's probably fake, but I just thought I'd mention it.
But MK64 had blue shells.Incognito D wrote:- tone down the weapons - no more blue shell
I really liked the bikes. It took some getting use to, just like the 2 riders took getting use to in Double Dash. And I thought you were able to hop and slide on karts in MK Wii. Also, the only time you really 'bounce' is when you crash into some one with a heavier weight class.Incognito D wrote:- bikes? no. I'd prefer to see the return of standard karts only. I'm glad there's at least one other person out there that likes that game. Now to find someone else that doesn't care of MK64 at all...noiseredux wrote:Double Dash rules.
The only change I'd really like to see is for the weapons to be balanced more. With so many players in a race you could really get raped in MK Wii, going from 1st to last because of a slew of attacks sucks.
I wouldn't mind seeing a landing mechanic like in Excite Truck, but it'd probably be to much to have that and tricks, and I like the tricks. Actually the more I think about it I think combining Excite truck and Mario Kart could work pretty well. Adding in track deformation and maybe environmental attacks would be a neat twist on the game.

Oh, I forgot to mention that. The game is incredible unforgiving. Some times there's waaay too many blue shells. And that time every one was cheating online, there were blue shells every second!t0yrobo wrote:The only change I'd really like to see is for the weapons to be balanced more. I love Double Dash! But sorry, I care a little bit for MK64. It's not my favorite, but I don't dislike it.t0yrobo wrote:I'm glad there's at least one other person out there that likes that game. Now to find someone else that doesn't care of MK64 at all...

Re: How to fix Mario Kart
speaking of mario kart. has anyone played this on the arcade yet?
Mario Kart GP 2

it has pac-man, ms pac-man and blinky on the roster. developed both by Namco and Nintendo. It's the first ever Mario Kart crossover. I'm hoping the sequel on the console would be something like this with more crossover characters.

seems too easy when i played it on the arcade though. made especially for kids.

Re: How to fix Mario Kart
I have to disagree here. The current blue shell is basically useless to you if you get it in a low position, because all it does is slow down the leader, which doesnt help you get past the bulk of the pack with their slew of red shells, pow blocks, bullet bills and lightning clouds. If you start giving the blue shell in higher placements, the game becomes compeltely luck based, as it becomes a blue shell fest (as if it isnt bad enough already). I think the MK64 blue shell needs bought back. Although it took out the leader, it also potentially hit every one between you and 1st aswell, which when you're in 6th, is frankly much more benficial than exploding 1st place alone.fastbilly1 wrote:I can agree with some of the points, but you need a balancer in a game like this, the blueshell works better than randomly speeding you up.
