Another thread crying about eBay

Post by Octopod »

*sigh*

I asked the seller if the copy of Baldur's Gate 2 was the big box version and he wrote me back stating that it was the boxed version. He even used to the stock photo of the boxed version. Now normally, I know that a stock photo means nothing but combined with him telling me that it was the boxed version I hit "buy it now."

He sent me the new repress that comes in a DVD case. And he sent me an Indian copy to boot. Hopefully I'll get my money back.

OK, I just felt the need to share that with someone. And before someone tells me we already have threads complaining about eBAy, so what, I say. We have a thread for EVERYTHING. If we just posted in old threads we would never have ANY new threads.

So he wants me to send him the item and he'll give me store credit. Fuck that. I have to wait two more days before I can open a complaint with ebay because know matter what I try to do it keeps telling me to give the item two more days to arrive.

Is there a way to report him for trying to pass off Indian copies of games as North American copies?

From now on I am not buying items that do not have an actual picture regardless of what the seller says.

Did he specify that it was a NA copy?(Then you could say he lied about item description)

I once bought a Sega Genesis on eBay with a copy of Mortal Kombat. I waited a month, but it never arrived. After paying, I gave the seller a few days before asking about it. Got no reply. At two weeks after payment I asked again. Got no reply. At a month after payment I asked again about it. No response. I contacted eBay, made my claim, gave them copies of my messages, everything. They eventually gave me my money back, I'm assuming after the seller didn't communicate with them either.

Still, I wanted that Genesis...*sniff*

Did you pay with paypal? I opened a dispute when a seller sold me a bootleg NDS game (mario and luigi partners in time). The seller claimed it was an american version, brand new in box. Instead, I get a printed off manual, no box, and a Chinese bootleg (you can tell by twisting the cartridge, if the plastic flexes, it's a knock off... try it at gamestop, you'd be surprised how many people trade in knock offs)

I reported it to Paypal, including all the emails, pics of the item, and facts (said it's shipped from USA, envelope was postmarked in China, etc), after two weeks of no response from the seller, paypal gave me a full refund, let me keep the item, and got the seller closed down.

Beautiful.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

I sent them a link to the Federal Trade Commissions website page about auction fraud and they told me to send the item back and they would give me store credit. I told them I did not want credit because they misrepresent items so what would I spend it on. They wrote me back telling me I would be receiving the money back via paypal shortly. I feel kind of bad for some reason...I did pull out the FTC pretty quickly I guess. Just getting kind of tired of people on eBay.
