Plus it's an easy way for dicks to criticize games, everybody's a photographic expert or professional cinematographer when the image onscreen looks like it was shot on a five dollar camera by a four year old facing the sun.
RRT4 didn't have bloom or specular diffusion. It had gouraud shading, which made the polygons look smooth rather than flat. If you're talking about the trails of the lights etc that was simply a pixel effect that was drawn on the screen. It isn't a lighting effect, it's not actually cast in the engine, simply post-processed.

I started playing Ninja Gaiden Black on my new Xbox (never owned one before) and I'm amazed by the graphics. Too bad I don't have this sucker on my HDTV (it's in my 'retro' room). But even on my flat screen CRT, Ninja Gaiden looks amazing.

Ah, my bad.

I could have sworn that I'd read somewhere about how RRT4 had bloom lighting.

No, it's like tomato/potato. Anti Aliasing gets rid of aliasing (or "teh jaggies") through supersampling. Anisotropic Filtering enhances textures at oblique angles.
(Yes, I know these are simplistic definitions.)

What you refer to as a "silver sheen" is a bad implementation of Bloom Lighting.

Eh, it doesn't matter most console games look like shit (to me) anyway.
Meh, like i said, I don't like any of it.

I actually preferred playing Morrowind in 480p rather then 1080i because when in 1080i, it made the game really dark, I almost couldn't see when it was night time.
