Xbox 360 Arcade stick recommendations

Post by Niode »

So yeah.

I need to a stick for my 360. I'm completely fed up with the fightpad. It's just not suitable for dash cancels. I want to up my game and not being able to rely on the pad is really holding me back.

I'm torn between these options.

Hori EX 2 = £40
Pros
  • It's cheap
  • wired
Cons
  • Buttons look cheap
  • Quite small
  • 3x3 layout
  • Not sure about upgradeability
Mad Catz SE Fightstick = £70
Pros
  • It's fairly big and weighty
  • Wired
  • 4x4 layout
  • Can be easily upgraded with Sanwa parts
Cons
  • It's quite expensive, especially if I'm going to need to upgrade the stick
Mad Catz TE Fightstick = £100-130 depending on used/new
Pros
  • It's heavy and big
  • Wired
  • Uses Sanwa parts
  • 4x4 layout
  • Easily replaceable parts
Cons
  • It's prohibitively expensive
Tekken 6 = £45 including Tekken 6 game
Pros
  • Very cheap
  • 4x4 layout
  • It's made by Hori
Cons
  • Wireless
  • It's really lightweight
  • Unsure of upgradeability
So what do you guys reckon I should go for?

I went with the Mad Catz TE Fightstick and have had no problems with it. It is expensive but works great. :)

I second the TE stick. I bought a 360 version, and slapped a chimp board into it. Works great with both my 360 and my PS3 now.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

I managed to get the TE stick for less than £100. So I'm pretty satisfied with that. If I had got the SE I would have spent £30 putting a Sanwa JLF/JLW (whatever fits) and sanwa buttons in it anyway. So this has worked out around the same price, but for a much bigger and heavier stick.

Yeah, if you're not going to mod then you should either get the TE stick or the HRAP-SE, with the difference being whether you prefer Sanwa or Seimetsu parts. If you know you plan to mod then go with the SE stick, as it's quite easy to mod.

I was just curious if an HAAP/IL competition solution for the 360 is available? I use adapters on my PS3, but is there any option available for 360 owners that want western style sticks?

Do you own any Playstation arcade sticks for PS1 or PS2 that you like? Because I always recommend the "XConverter 360" controller adapter. It works flawlessly with no lag.

Exactly what Im looking for right there. I would use it with a SF anniversary stick, but I searched a little and I cant find anywhere to buy one. Got a link?

I need this so when I play with my friends locally I dont get stuck on some square gated Japanese style stick that Im not used to.

Or go with a PS2 adaptor? Opens to huge selection of additional controllers.
