So recently my down button on my Dpad has stopped functioning. I opened the thing up to see if it was gunk (as I assumed), but everything is clean and nothing looks wrong. All other buttons function correctly.
Is there any way to fix this or do I need a new controller?
Dual Shock 3 broken Dpad
Re: Dual Shock 3 broken Dpad
It is so hard for me to put the Dualshock 2 and especially DS3 back together, its a nightmare. My right analog stick was really broken and was replaced for free by ebay seller. Check if your are still under warranty or not, check?

Jeez the Dualshock 3 is absolute bitch to get back together.
Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the pcb? Use some rubbing alcohol.

Ya, It was hard to put the DS3 back together, but I wouldn't call it a nightmare. Putting a DS lite back together, now thats a nightmare. As for cleaning the PCB, I don't think rubbing alcholo is best to use on this is it?

(Not exactl layout, but close enough, D-pad contacts on the left. White plasitc shell underneath these, motherboard under that.)

Re: Dual Shock 3 broken Dpad
to put dualshocks back together you gotta snap out the 2nd triggers with a small screwdriver then put it all together then insert the triggers from above...

Re: Dual Shock 3 broken Dpad
Looks like the Atari 5200 fragile flex circuit nightmare. Remind me not to take apart a PS3 controller. I do know that on the PS2 "Analog Buttons" when I scraped a little of the carbon coating off the PBC, the buttons did become more sensitive. Not sure of results on those pads.MrHealthy wrote:Ya, It was hard to put the DS3 back together, but I wouldn't call it a nightmare. Putting a DS lite back together, now thats a nightmare.
