I think the issue is that for the last 30 years our movie players have not needed to be connected to the internet.darthmunky wrote:If people are too dumb to not now how to update their blu-ray player, they shouldn't have one.
Someone has no idea that a dvd isn't a blu-ray disc

Why does my Blu-ray player need FW upgrades?
Why does it need to be connected to the internet?
I JUST WANT TO WATCH A DAMN MOVIE. WHY DO I HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH THIS FIRMWARE BULLSHIT?
Seriously, Upgrading may not be hard, but it is annoying.

An added bonus to VHS is you get to see old previews. "Coming to theaters June 1995!"Lord_Santa wrote:thank God for VHS.

The music industry has relented somewhat and now you can buy MP3s from the likes of Amazon and do whatever you like with them. However the movie industry is still draconian and would rather stifle all human progress in order to keep the consumers "at bay".
