What about Lord of the Rings: Conquest or The Battle for Middle Earth?
One ring to rule them all...

I loved Two Towers and Return of the King on PS2 because me and my brother could play co-op together...its been a while so I'm not sure if I'd still like them

Conquest is horrible. It's almost exactly like Star Wars battlefront, which is ok, but Conquest butchers everything LOTR related (For example, on one level you fight the balrog *again*. They even say 'the balrog Gandalf fought has returned!'...)Octopod wrote: What about Lord of the Rings: Conquest or The Battle for Middle Earth?

Actually, LOTR is prob the best film ever created...pureevil wrote:No and the films suck to.That line just reminds me of clerks 2 now that was a good film
There a few good LOTR games, like LOTR: The Third Age was a great rpg, and if you like strategy, the battle for middle earth games are pretty good. LOTR Conquest is kind of like Star Wars Battlefront but not nearly as good. Return of the King was okay, but not great.

Let's get one thing straight, Lord of the Rings:Return of the King on the PS2(I think it was multi-platform actually)is not GOOD. It is excellent. It's fixed all the issues from Two Towers(which was pretty good too). One of the best licensed games I've ever played and a very solid action rpg. It is on my list in the top 101 games topic which is somewhere on this forum. I haven't read the books, but it captured the FEEL of the movies PERFECTLY and puts you right in the middle of it.
Multiple playable characters, a decent levelling/upgrade system, cool environmental kills and stealth abilities(for the hobbits), varying goals to keep the stages from just being about killing everything, a fun combat system, which does a very good job of not only making you feel as badass as your movie counterparts, but captures their individual nuances as well. You can build up Legalos and Gandolf as projectile based badasses, Aragorn is balanced, Gimli is slow but strong and the weaker hobbits have to rely on stealth and environment kills.
And of course the production values are through the roof and the musical score is pretty much what you hear in the movies
