For those who never updated their FAT ps3

Yes, I have a 60gb PS3 w/ Linux installed and do not want to lose my features that I paid for. Even if I didn't, I'd probably refuse to update on moral grounds. I think it's funny because Sony is just losing money from me now, because I can't download anything from the Playstation Store anymore. That's the only thing I miss on PSN as I don't play any PS3 games online, except for Demon's Souls but that doesn't require PSN to play.

Anyhow I think it stinks. Soon I won't be able to play any new games on my PS3 anymore. F%$k Sony.

Refusing to update on moral grounds is cool and all, but I honestly dont think that a few people not updating is going to show Sony anything. This needs to be handled properly with a petition or something. I agree that its wrong to take away features that you (and I) paid for, but this is be handled in the wrong way.

Ultimately Sony is worried that this will lead to the pirating of games, and surely it will. I dont pirate games on new systems and maybe you dont either, but theres more than enough people that will. I know geohot just wanted to challenge himself and do the impossible with a system that was known as "unhackable", but if anyone is to blame for this its probably geohot for hacking it in the first place.

Of course Sony could probably block his hack without removing the other OS feature, and thats what obviously needs to be done. Refusing to update and waiting for a hacked FW is only going to make things worse and after the whole PSP fiasco its pretty clear why Sony removed the feature. Yes Sony is fucking up pretty bad on this, but I dont think refusing to update is the answer.

Just my 2 cents, so no need for anybody to attack me. I never had any interest in the feature so I will continue to update and play new games as they get released. Sony is just trying to stop the pirating of games and thats ok with me. They just need to get their head straight, give back the other os feature and figure out a new way to patch this that doesnt fuck customers over.

I have set up a Facebook group to try and garner support for the cause. If you believe that Sony shouldn't have removed features from the PS3 then please join and invite as many people as possible. Without exposure, nothing will be done.
