I do that for every ep of every show because the quality is not always the same, even from the same source. Btw, I only watch raws. Maybe the sub groups have better quality consistency.MrPopo wrote:You do that for every ep of every show, or just until you've found the group you like for that particular show? I might snag a few different versions of the first ep depending on whether I notice some things that rub me the wrong way, but even then I usually have several groups that are my default group for any new show.Inazuma wrote:I think I'm at least around 200 GB a month.MrPopo wrote: Honestly, how are you downloading >250 GB a month?
- 150 GB a month for anime downloaded with Bit Torrent (I download everything I can find for the same episode of a show and then I will compare the quality of the files and delete all but the best one. It's very common for me to download 10 files for the same episode.)
Comcast wins the award for worst company in America

Since I don't live in the US, I don't have much experience with your Internet providers (though I did use Comcast when I lived over there and had no problems).
I'll say, though, that I hated my previous Internet provider (which was the heir of the monopoly state company we had in Brazil after the privatization of the telephone companies in the 90s). Since we were stuck with their monopoly since forever, we had atrocious customer service, horrible services generally, and abusive charges (meaning, they charged more than what we used) almost every month. Pretty much the same experience people claim to have with Comcast (but I'd bet it is much worse).
Recently, however, a new service appeared to compete with Oi (the old company), GVT. They provide landline phones and DSL internet. Since their price for 10 mb internet and better telephone was like 30% lower than what I paid for shitty phone plan and 2 mb internet before, I took the jump and abandoned Oi forever.
But I'm having some problems with keeping my old telephone number. Since I'm not required to change it after changing companies, there seems to have hapenned some screw up that made me unable to receive any calls. I am, however, able to call anyone. I called the company, explained the problem, and, on a Sunday, they sent a technician to my house, who promised to solve the problem in 48 hours. He didn't. I called them again and they, again, promised to sent another technician, who is to be here tomorrow at 8 o' clock.
This is a new experience for me, though. I'm having problems with my service and I'm not getting fucking pissed with my provider because I get the feeling that they're actually trying to solve whatever went wrong with me.
...
(However happy I am with that, though, I feel that I'll only know if they're actually a good company if they deduce from the price I'll pay at the end of the month the fact that I'm not able to receive any calls. If they create problems in this stage, which at this point seems unlikely, I'll be disillusioned.)

I would assume because he understands Japanese. No need for the fansubbers if you understand the language.Limewater wrote:Why?Inazuma wrote:Btw, I only watch raws.

Ah. My mistake. I was unfamiliar with the term "raw" as applied to anime. I assumed by that he meant that he was downloading the episodes in an uncompressed format.MrPopo wrote:I would assume because he understands Japanese. Like Popo said, I understand Japanese. Hard subs are so annoying to me because my eyes always look down there. It's distracting.Limewater wrote:Why?Inazuma wrote:Btw, I only watch raws.

I dunno I haven't had too many problems with them. The internet on my main computer that is directly connected to out modem works great and have never had any problems about speed or size caps for downloading. The wireless signal though is pretty spotty and not very good, but that pretty much goes for all wireless I hear and my laptop is a POS. We have them for cable too and its ok. Though when we tried to get CLTV to watch some cubs games that air on that channel sometimes and apparently customer service didn't know that we had the cable box but when we told them we did they added the channel for a few bucks and it was on within like 2 minutes after getting off the phone with them.
Basically I have no problems with them....yet...

Re: Comcast wins the award for worst company in America
When I had Comcast for TV service 3-4 years ago, I had no issues with the service. I found their customer reps easy to get in touch with and they solved problems quickly. The only issue I had with them was prices. They were expensive.
I switched over to Verizon FIOS TV when it became available 3-4 years ago. Much better value for the money. Dealing with billing/customer service is often a pain and worse so because I did not have a Verizon landline. They just couldn't look me up and I would often bounce from rep to rep.
I've been looking at Comcast for my church (internet & phones) since they have a very attractive offer going on. They currently have DSL and measured phone service. We'll switch to a faster internet connection and have unlimited phones (all 3 lines) for about what we're paying now to Verizon.

All of these companies could learn a thing or two from Netflix. The service is great and the prices are cheap. I have rarely had any problems with them but on the few occasions that I did need to call the wait times were nearly non-existent and the person that answered not only spoke my native tongue as a first language they were also friendly and helpful. I would pay double what I currently pay for the same service happily. That is how you should feel about any company you need to do long term business with.

Netflix is awesome. I wish they would get more stuff streaming though.
