"Both" Tales of Destiny games should be on the PSX rare list

Post by JC48573 »

I was lucky to get Tales of Destiny 2 for 50 bucks, but I still have to go through the trouble of getting the first one. The first Tales of Destiny is right up there cause the average price is around 75 dollars.

Argh. I think I traded in Tales of Destiny as credit for a GBA, which is worth about 5 bucks now.

ToD was really underrated, the battles were so much more fun than the FF turn based style I was used to, and I could not believe I gave a crap about the story, which involves sentient sword guardians... Beating it included going thru the Tower of Druaga and racking up toll charges from calling Namco's help line, but it was worth it.

Too bad at the time I had the mentality that it was only worth store credit after I had beaten it. Chalk it up on the list of games I used to own that are now worth more than what I paid for... its a long, sad list.

Sigh...I've been watching many videos of tales of graces and I thought that maybe it's the time to try this series. So far I have repurchased Tales of the Abyss and purchased Symphonia for the first time. I did buy Legendia but I really can't get into the game even though I was giving it a second chance. My reason for not liking Legendia is because I didn't find the game VISUALLY attractive or character designs not much of an eye candy. Not sure if I will even go through the trouble of getting Tales of Phantasia as I heard it was an inferior port.

Tales is a great series, even if it is produced and marketed with the same degree of efficiency as a group of drunken monkeys working on a jigsaw puzzle. [Yes, if you can tell, I'm still mad about Tales of Vesperia: Complete not being released in the US. Cheap bastards. ] Anyway, Symphonia is my personal favorite; it has charming characters, an awesome battle system that greatly improves on the already fun previous 2D system, superb cel-shaded graphics, and well over 80 hours of gameplay, even more if you're obsessive [and crazy] enough to finish all the side quests. It's a Gamecube masterpiece, and nevermind the ho-hum PS2 version; it's a big fish in an even bigger pond, that's all I have to say about that. Anyway, start playing Symphonia now. I know what you're thinking; "He's being sarcastic, I'll just keep aimlessly browsing the internet for a few more hours." No. Just no. I'm dead serious. Turn off your computer, go to your Gamecube, sit down, and play Tales of Symphonia. DO IT! DO IT NOW!

i love the tales series. right now im playing tales of eternia (psp), other wise known in the us as tales of destiny 2. i enjoyed legendia, and just want to point out that the game was made by the internal namco and that is the reason why it feels outdated to a degree.

Tales of Destiny 2 came in today along with my Super Street Fighter 4 (spent only 30 on this one w/ free shipping). The guy listed TOD2 as LIKE NEW at half.com for only 49.99. I bought it two days later, so I guess I was pretty damn lucky that it was still up. I was also worried cause I usually don't shop at half.com due to lack of communication; and the seller's rating was only 83%, which got me worried as hell. The seller did respond to my messages and all. Man, the game is basically in mint condition, which is very rare. It even came with a 3x3 mini catalog displaying upcoming namco games around that time. My next game on the list is Tales of Destiny 1 along with two other rare psx games I still need to get to complete my personal psx library (yes, I am almost done....).
