'Splosion Man
Lucidity
Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond
Shadow Complex

Megaman 9
Megaman 10
Alien Hominid HD
Bionic Commando: Rearmed
Metal Slug 7
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao
Also, The Maw was a fun little 3D platformer that hearkens back to the days of the N64.
I second all of the above and add N+ and Shinobi. I also just got the Final Fight / Magic Sword combo. Obviously beat-em-ups, but Magic Sword has some platforming elements.
I'm hoping that one day I will see Elevator Action Returns up there

It takes real courage and stupidity to wade through those.
He didn't mention he wanted quality platformers.
So how about we add Sonic 06 to that list?

Yes! N+ was great! It can get very challenging, but its so satisfying to beat a group of levels in that game. I haven't played Shinobi on XBLA, but perhaps I'll have to try it out.

That's no platformer, it's a suicide simulator.
I've been looking for a good, "childish" platformer for the 360 for a bit now. What happened to such games...?
Don't forget that you can get some older Xbox orignal games that'll work on the 360. That had a decent amount of platformers that should be backwards compatible.
I think I might get the 360 Spyro game if it's anything like it's PS1 counterparts. Also, I played the demo for Overlord. It has a PS1/N64 era platforming vibe to it, even though it also has elements of rpg, and whatever genre pikmin is.

Well, the game industry has grown up. Games are targetting teens and young adults now, so they're just no place for cutesy platformers anymore. It's all about the violence now. One of the few cutesy mascot series still around is Ratchet & Clank, and that series focuses on the wide variety of destructive weapons they provide. The Jak and Daxter series sold out with the second installment, which introduced guns while also being a Grand Theft Auto III clone.
One thing I loved about the Sly Cooper series is that while their peers were all trying to present more "grown up" platformers(a.k.a.violence, big guns and a "dark" hero), Sucker Punch was still putting out some very innocent and old school in nature platformers with the Sly Cooper games, while still appealling to adults with clever writing and charming characters. Frankly, I've always considered the Sly Cooper trilogy to be FAR better than the Jak and Daxter or Ratchet & Clank series, but I could do a whole other topic on that

The thing that held me back with sly cooper is the clunky boring charecter designs of everyone that wasn't sly. Played through the first one and started in on the second but stopped pretty early. Maybe I'll pick it up again.
OH! and to answer the OP.... You want to browse the xbox live arcade storefront more than gamestop if you want platformers on the 360.

I didn't feel that way about the character designs personally. I actually loved the overall look of the series. That whole sort of cell shaded look mixed with the Saturday morning cartoon like interludes between each chapter of the story. I thought the series was much more stylized than its peers. Jak 2 was just plain ugly and it seems like the Ratchet series wanted this Pixar look that didn't really happen until the series hit the PS3.
You might like Sly 3. It essentially took the best of the first and second one and blended it all together quite nicely. They hit just the right balance of platforming, stealth based gameplay and mini-games. Though I find the story more enjoyable when you play through all three. It's fun seeing the characters evolve over the course of the series ESPECIALLY Bentley
