Ubisoft to switch game manuals to digital only

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

So now if you want to check how to do X you have to save the game, exit it, check the manual, start it again, load your game and see if it works.

There's a reason why manuals are not digital. Do you seriously expect Ubisoft to put "manual" there in the menu? Don't be naïve.

I like how the Virtual console games on wii, you just push the home button and you can read the instrutions while the game is paused. click on whatever you need to know, push the home button again and you are back to playing.

Some games I do like having a reference while playing mostly any game with indepth controls, fighters and rpgs.

As a collector I like having them, but if future games don't have them it makes it a lot easier to collect CIB copies. Why do people throw manuals away?

Dumb idea. Flipping thru manual part of fun of the game. Never see manuals like this again.

Very true, I have noticed manuals with current games are only a few pages in length these days compared to when they were 50+ pages or so. I'm still amazed that manuals get thrown away

You're amazed that manuals get thrown away? I'm still shocked that people throw CASES away.

I'm going to have a seizure and sue. That'll teach em. I need my seizure warning on paper before I play.

It really is a damn shame that this is happening. I remember being pissed off enough that the manual for Marvel vs Capcom 2 only had like, a quarter of the characters listed in it and didn't even have complete move lists.

Still, I think the companies that matter will still put out nice manuals. SF4's was full color, and Metal Gear Solid 4 had possibly the nicest black and white manual I've seen, with stylish comic book panels that taught you the game mechanics.

I mean, it's friggin' Ubisoft. Who cares.

I had another though - maybe to save tress, nintendo ds games shouldn't ALL come with a manual size health and safety warning thing in them. Every single damn one of them.

It's a shame its nothing but a dumb ploy to save money. It really seems like Ubi is trying to run themselves into the ground lately between this and the DRM fiasco.
