The Activision issue

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Certainly. I was not under that impression. The claim of evil was my own, I believe. I don't really need to day "maybe" or "perhaps." I know I'm evil.

that sums it nicely

MW2 is fairly a new game, they shouldn't release another at least for 2 years
in the mean time, they can release updates and maps, maybe an extension
They want to milk out the Call of Duty franchise like they're doing to Guitar Hero :(

Anyone know if Activision is still owned by its founders or if it had been sold off at one point?

To answer my own question from a quick trip to Wikipedia- Activision is owned by Vivendi and is now Activision Blizzard. Vivendi also owns Universal Studios, NBC Universal, Houghton Mifflin and others.

Looks like you should have bought shares of Activision.

Actually, people stopped hating EA because of the new CEO JR, and because of the EA Partners Program.

Just so you know, the shareholders hate JR. Hate, hate, hate him. EA was making a ton of money back when they were being the evil empire, but now that they've given that up, the shareholders are pissed as hell.

Word has been going around that if it weren't for this Respawn deal, JR would have been sacked. They wanted to bring in someone who would make profit (a.k.a. EVIL), but now that they have the Modern Warfare guys, they feel like they have a chance to bring in the mega bucks.

Of course, this is all just hearsay and off-the-record comments. God knows, you can't get anybody to comment on-the-record these days. Still, it makes sense to me.

So it boils down to this:
Pissed off shareholders = Quality games
Satisfied shareholders = Crap games

Life can be simple sometimes

Woooow slow down. G.E owns majority stock in NBC universal, Vivendi only own 20% 80% belongs to G.E. HOWEVER.... G.E. has an agreement to sell 51% of their stock to comcast. But before they sell 51% of the stock they are going to buy Viviendi's 20%

That's what I get for using Wikipedia as my only source I guess. I was looking for a quick answer though.
