It seems i wasn't the only one underwhelmed by the final fight in ME2.

That reddit thread brings up some good points.
When critics said "The inventory is terrible" they didn't mean "Get rid of loot entirely"
When critics said "The planetary side-missions are too disconnected" they didn't mean "Remove all wide-open spaces"
When critics said "The Mako is terrible" they didn't mean "Replace it with the mindless tedium of scanning planets"
Liara was my love interest for the first game, and i had similar feelings as this reddit poster.
I swear, if they start Mass Effect 3 two years later and suddenly Tali no longer likes me... I'm going to be pissed. I was pretty disapointed meeting Liara in ME2...

* Me : "Oh hey Liara! Remember me?"
* Liara : "Oh yeah... I'm questionably evil now and act very disinterested in you. Would you run some simple quest for me and then I'll never talk to you again?"
* Me : "WTF?"

Seriously, the first line she said when you find her is the same line her mother said right before trying to kill you... they did that on purpose to show Liara's changed. She used to be an awesome nerdy book worm type.
Apparently much of why she is so hardened to you is explained in the comic which takes place while you are dead. Also- apparently i missed out on a dialogue option that kind of explained it. Maybe you did too. Here it is:

Still- it was really jarring to walk in, see her, deep throat kiss her in front of everyone and then act like it never happened. Just weird.

One of the best parts of the game was at the very end when everyone was being social and loading up in that cut scene. I wish there was more of that in the ship. Like when you walk into the crew quarters and they are just talking. I wanted the game to add people to the same room. Have them make idle chit chat. Interact more. Because, lets face it, the interaction of these strong characters is what makes the game great.

That one i got is all up in arms about the code and can't get down and party.
There's another one who you can sleep with. But doing so ends... poorly.

Garrus's sidequest in ME1, if I recall correctly, is him hunting down someone. You corner him and he's become a simpering baby, his mind shattered by his experience on the ship he's on. And you get the option of letting Garrus finish him off or not. If he does you get to have a conversation about the nature of justice and laws. Basically at that point he's completely renegade with a "ends justify the means" attitude.

Hold on a minute.. Does any of the original crew have any critical roles in ME2? I am asking because Mordin and Legion both bit the bullet, but I don't think they're critical for the sequel. In fact, I don't think any of the current crew are indeed critical. Which is clever on Bioware's part.

I wasn't impressed by the ending as much as the first's, I hoped they'd licensed another great song but the music fits the ME universe perfectly. The game felt more linear and there wasn't much point to undertake the freelance sidequests, but it took me ten more hours than the first game to finish this one. I'd say Bioware did a really good job overall.

Just finished it yesterday, really enjoyed it. First time through that tight ass Miranda died, because she was not loyal when I took Jacks side in there argument, had to sit through the final section again to get her to survive (By ensuring Garris and Grunt were in the defending party). I blew up the fucker of a base, and also played through with my ME1 team, in which Ashley and Wrex had both died.

Good fucking game, built upon everything the first had, removed a fair amount of RPG elements, which I think worked well but I have one statement to make.

FOR A GAME THAT REMOVED MOST OF ITS RPG ELEMENTS, FUCK ME IT HAS A LOT OF GRINDING!!!

Referring to the mining of course.
