Mario Golf would get my vote - for the N64. I once shot an albatross with metal mario. That moment was better then any birdie or par I've ever gotten in real life.

Oh yeah? Well I managed to get a hole in one on PGA Tour 96 that bounced off the flag pole. Yes, that's bounced off the flag pole and went into the hole from the Tee. That was fucking epic. I watched the replay of that over and over and over again, I didn't want to turn my mega drive off until all my friends had seen that epic shot.

I also much prefer the old-style swing mechanic and arcade-ish golf games to the pro or sim style games. If you're on Xbox Live and want to spend 5 bucks on a nice little golf game that includes a great course editor check out Avatar Golf on the Indie Games tab.

Neo Turf Masters is one of the reasons I want to get the SNK compilation disc. Looks fun.

I love Zany Golf. It is mini-golf, not real golf, but it is loads of fun.

Try reading Magweasel's reviews of TG16 golf games. Though there are only three articles, he mentions a lot more games in them. http://magweasel.com/ (can't provide a direct link; just type 'golf' in the search box)

Everybody's Golf 1 and 2 (aka Hot Shots Golf) on the PSP is superb.
Also, I had a lot of fun with a pc shareware game called Hole in One (duh, easy to find,eh? I'll try locating it as I know the company has 'dog' in its name)

There's always Pangya, a Korean golf MMORPG several friends and I got to beta test back around...2005-2006ish. It was actually a lot of fun and a pretty solid title.
