PDS is a unique case among JRPGs. It doesn't take too much grinding to advance, and the storyline is above par compared to the usual dross that passes as stories in JRPGs. 10-15 hour games are a rarity and if someone has suggestions please share them with us!
Hmm, I'll have to try it out after I get back to (and beat) EarthBound.
I own this game, and I like it alot! This is the only RPG, i have accuatly beat twice. Things, I like about it is the unique gameplay and the length is to me is perfect. The graphics are also pretty good for the saturn. And in my opinion the game is easy to learn and figure out. My only complaint about the game (except for the $200 price tag) is the lack of characters and character development. Going into towns there really aren't that many people to talk to. Maybe its comparable to other games made during that time. But i dunno... I still enjoy it. Id give it a 9 out of 10.
I actually enjoy the fact that there are few characters in towns. you don't have to deal with any bull crap like random characters in other games. it really fits the dark feel of this game.
To me, this is one game that truly lives up to the hype. The battle system is exceptionally well designed and requires you not to just level up often to win, you have to actually consider the configuration of your dragon, your flight position, your enemies' weak points and which of your many weapons (human character and dragon weapons) to use in which situaions. There are probably numerous configurations which would work to win, but it's fun to find one that fits your style of play. For example, I'm not big on defense, I like to punch and punch hard and have strong abilities to heal but you could alternatively set up your dragon to be strong on defense and just wear your opponent out over time.
This game has a real storyline and requires you to travel around the game environment and experience many different situations. The story behind the girl is so compelling you are just driven forward by the desire to know the next bit of her story.
Whomever at Sega is responsible for having deleted the original code to this game should be shot, drawn and quartered and then each remaining portion should be boiled in oil and then set on fire. A modern version of the game just as it is but with modern graphics would make me swoon (and make me buy a current gen piece of hardware).
I would love a remake of this game on PS3. Along with Radiant Silvergun. Those are games I would like to play but are a bit cost prohibitive. I guess I will have to emulate them to play them.

Never happen. Someone at Sega long ago deleted the code to the game.
Then why did GameTap say they had the rights to publish it last year?
Probably a similar thing to what they did with the Princess Crown re-release: package up a Saturn emulator that's custom coded to load the ROM instantly.
