Last Day of oXbox Live -- How are you living your last day?

Post by h8b1llg8ts »

I think I'm going to check out all my old favorite servers like Ghost Recon, XIII, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and Rainbow Six 3:Black Arrow. Just a reminder that people have moved on while I have not.

Then I get some Halo 2 action in, some Crimson Skies, and finish my night on the game that almost flunked me out of college, Rainbow Six 3.

I started last night... XIII has no players... :( I did get some Star Wars Commando (?) and Crimson Skies games in though... and some DOA2 Ultimate. I'm basically just trying to get all the Updates & DLC that I can before they are gone FOREVER! :(

I hope I have enough time to get it all tonight before they shutdown. I'm just really bummed that some of the games I don't own yet for the Xbox will never be able to get their Updates or DLC. :(

Are you able to still sign up? I should grab some Toejam & Earl 3 downloads before I can no longer do so.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe there are torrents that contain all the updates. So even if you don't get them all now, you can download them elsewhere.

I don't think the closing of oXbox Live would impact that at all. Halo PC will exist forever (theoretically) as you can easily make your own dedicated server.

What's this news of oXbox live closing? This is why I don't like to buy games where I can't have a disc or cartridge in my possession. Yes, they only offered downloads and such through this generation but what happens when they close the 360 servers or the Wii or PS3 servers?

I was a beta tester but never did much of anything on live. In hindsight, I probably should have and now I won't get a chance as I don't have wireless and it's too difficult to set up a wired connection for one evening.

This has been announced for a good couple of months now. It's not like it's come out of the blue. Microsoft want to focus on taking the current service to the 'next level'. Apparently there were certain limitations to the service that had to be there for the legacy support to work. Now that is out of the picture they can focus on improving the service for current gen customers. I played a tonne of Forza Motorsport and Burnout 3, in fact Forza Motorsport was the reason I got Xbox Live, I bought the game with the headset and 12month subscription to the service. I can play both their sequels as much as I want in improved form on my 360 so I'm not really that bothered about losing live on my oXbox, It's not what use it for mainly anyway.
