Anyone know how to play Japanese PSP games on American PSPs?

Post by JokermanJohnny »

I'm interested in getting the Konami Shooting Portable Collections (i.e. Parodius, Twinbee, Salamander, and Gradius). However, some of them are only sold in Japan.

Is there any special method that's needed to play these type of games on American handhelds, or can you just pop it in and play? (lKind of like the Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS games, or so I heard...)

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Wow. I didn't know that about the PSP and PS3. Now I'll have to see if there's anything worth importing for the PS3. (even though I don't have one... :( )

Thanks for the info, guys!

Xbox 360 games don't have to be region locked. Ds is region free.

Yeah, I love that the PS3 is region free. I did the walk through on youtube for how to get on the Japanese PSN Store. Its pretty tight. Of course everything is in Japanese but you can download demos and trailers for free. I checked out Valkyria Chronicles 2 for PSP and Yakuza 3. Its definitely worth trying.

Fry's electronics sold some Japanese psp games, I'm not sure if they still have any.
