The casing is georgeous, well made and has character, expertly made.
As Hailrazer will confirm, making a true portable is far more skilled - making various boards and controls fit into a small cavity along with batteries, etc is quite difficult as often needs board reduction and rewiring stuff, along with other considerations like heat within a confined area, keeping a system evenly balanced and also not too heavy or thick to use comfortably.
This "base unit" system would have been quite easy to make, as the GameCube remains intact, there is plenty of space inside the GameCube to put batteries without modding needed, so all that was needed was some wiring to the handheld section, which is not difficult. What he did though to a high standard was the case making - that is of a high standard for sure.
There is nothing wrong with a "base unit with handheld" approach at all, and as they go, this one is probably as good as it gets - attractive, light. There have been others I have seen in the past, that just stuck a GameCube onto the back of a case front with the screen, controls, etc; initially, you see screenshots of the top and think "wow" then see that they only did partial modding to the console and kept it intact, and feel a bit cheated!
I got a portable GameCube!!!!

Very well said. He definitely did an awesome job. I have never seen the walkman style before with a console mod. Glad I'm the first. Maybe it'll catch on. The WalkCube.

It fits Keith's character delightfully, but I'm a little
that it's not a real Gameboy-style portable.
Re: Im getting a portable GameCube!!!!
I was disappointed too that it isn't a proper handheld portable console system, after initial posts on the item indicated that it might be; as there aren't many of them around. Nevermind, it's an attractive looking system anyway, even if it only ticks some of the boxes

Re: Im getting a portable GameCube!!!!
The main reason that there aren't many around is due to the massive optical assembly. Thing takes up the most room in the case. It's hard to strip it down too, it's just bulky and very tall compared to most of consoles that have a long and slender optical assembly.
MrPopo suggested that making a Wii into a portable with some sort of custom bootloader so that it doesn't function as a Wii at all would be a worthwhile project. The Wii is pretty small as it is. Would mean sacrificing a Wii which is quite expensive, so we won't see something like this for another couple of years just yet...

Indeed, the GameCube drive assembly can be reduced but is still bulky. The DreamCast's drive unit is thick too (hence the thickness of my portable I made, half of its thickess was as a result of the drive unit).
Indeed, a Wii can be done as mentioned, however, also as mentioned, aren't exactly cheap still - wait a few years when you can buy them for £5 each and you might see some cheap portables being made!

Re: Im getting a portable GameCube!!!!
He even had trouble fitting all the wires and junk in this ones controller. he said it was packed real tight. He had to open it like 5 times to adjust everything. The wires kept getting stuck under the buttons. I wants a portable Dreamcast next.

I can't wait to see the talking classics episode for this.
Re: Im getting a portable GameCube!!!!
This makes me wish that Nintendo would release a portable GameCube. It already used mini-DVDs, so you have an easily portable storage media. I would love to be able to start a game on a console and continue with it on a portable. That's not quite ever been done before (except for things that would transmit your handheld's image to a TV screen).
I've seen some tech that is heading that way though, namely by allowing different versions of the same game to cross from your PC to your i-phone and back again.
