I don't think it will work, since the PSX runs the XMB like the PS3 and PSP. The exploit relies on the DVD firmware and modifies the sysmenu of the PS2. You won't be able to put the Freemcboot on a memory card and send it him since it doesn't work across regions. It MUST be done on the same region as the device it will be used on.

If the PSX accepts PS2 memory cards then he could put the exploit on a memory card using his modded PS2 via ULaunchElf and then try it, I doubt it would work though. Use this package: http://sksapps.com/exploit/freevast/Noobie_Package.rar If it doesn't work then there's no harm done since it's a softmod, if the exploit is incompatible it just won't work.
