Won a copy of Resident Evil 4 for the PS2
This is a game I have put off purchasing for awhile now. I was either too busy with other games or it wasn't available on a system I owned (yet). So far I'm really enjoying the game. Aiming feels a little more sluggish than I remember it from the Gamecube release.
Also, be sure to check out Ken's channel (the guy who held the giveaway).

Yeah, I always felt that aiming was tighter on Gamecube. I also noticed a weird bug...you know that area early on (a bit after you get captured at the start) that's just completely full of bear traps? If you knife the ground (was trying to set of the traps) you start sliding to the side. Harmless, but it makes me wonder what other bugs the PS2 version might have had.

I really hate the control of this game. Why couldn't they have implemented the use of the dual analog sticks similar to that of first-person shooters? I can't stand using the left analog stick for all movement, and then having to hold another button to run. It feels very awkward
Also, I don't like how slow the zombies walk towards you. It's like you have all day to shoot them. Boring

The gamecube has tighter controlls for pretty much any game. Just look at the ps2 port of Super Monkey Ball, it's almost unplayable without the GC controller's precision.
Gamecube version also has much nicer graphical effects in many, many areas.
Guess that's why they added the bonus story to the ps2 version...
Dead Space plays more like what you're describing, and it borrows a LOT from RE4 in the way its designed. Maybe you'd like it better?

Funny, I always have and still do find dual analog controls to be extremely awkward. I kinda think you're expecting the game to be something that it isn't, but meh.Weekend_Warrior wrote:I really hate the control of this game. Yeah, RE4 still uses tank controls but the enemies are perfectly set up so that it still works with pin-point aiming-based combat (tripping dudes up, shooting out weapons, etc) unlike RE5, where it feels okay at first and then becomes more and more detrimental as it goes on...

You're absolutely right. I have played Dead Space and I LOVE the control! To me, it just feels right.AppleQueso wrote:The gamecube has tighter controlls for pretty much any game. Just look at the ps2 port of Super Monkey Ball, it's almost unplayable without the GC controller's precision.

So yeah... If only RE4 had controls similar to that then I might have enjoyed the game.
