Once again, if you stop updating your PS3 two things happen. You cannot play new games and you cannot log into the PSN. And you lose the ability to connect to the PSN if Sony ever takes it down anyway, and I'm sure you knew that when you purchased the PS3. The reason you can't play new games is because of Sony's licensing system for their closed platform, but we knew going in, because it's been like this for every console, that a console is a closed platform from a software perspective. If your software doesn't meet their standards you don't get to publish it.
What point are you trying to make?

My point is you bought into a closed system and then are complaining when the owners of that system change the system. If you really want to keep your Linux install you have options. The fact that you don't like your options is not Sony's fault.

Of course it's Sony's fault, they didn't have to remove Linux.

Some people are selfish and don't give a fuck about other people, morals or doing the right thing. Sony could keep pulling features such as PS2 BC and BD movie support and if that doesn't affect them personally, they couldn't care less.

I had no idea the PS3 could play emulators through Linux until Niode mentioned it. I'd like to keep that option available to me so I won't downgrade my firmware. Even if I didn't care for emulators, I wouldn't downgrade my firmware because I actually care about other people, even if they don't give two shits about me.

It sucks when you try to stand up for something that helps people and they argue with you over it, doesn't it Niode?

There's a problem here. It doesn't matter what you pay for; it's not like you can choose certain features you want in the console at the store, and they will charge you accordingly. Everyone who buys a system pays for ALL its features. Taking that away is, in a broad sense of the term, stealing. Yes, the PS3 is a closed system. Yes, Sony can edit the system how they want, but consumers who payed for the features of the PS3 should be given a [legitimate] choice on upgrading. It's a test of morals, and Sony just failed it. Also, like others have said, there are much better ways to deal with this than just removing entire features. Just frequent patches would do the trick.

I'm glad at least some people get it. I think people just enjoy arguing with me for the sake of arguing. I'm not looking for an argument I just want people to see that what Sony is doing is wrong.

Like I've been saying all along, it doesn't matter if 1 person uses it or 10million people use it. It's the principle that Sony can remove features that you have paid for. It's a bait and switch and should be illegal.
