Well they do have a tendency for overheating and breaking just like the 360/PS3, but if you turn Wiiconnect24 off you shouldn't have a problem.
The Wii and DSi have downloads locked to the console, which is complete shit. That's why I refuse to buy VC/Wiiware, until the implement some sort of user account system so that I can transfer downloads I've paid for to other consoles I've paid for.

Well, for those that this is really important to, you can make your voice heard in a bit more of a direct way.
Considering all the complaints I hear about PSN, I'd think it'd be easy enough for most people to give up.
It would be interesting to see how the refund works out, though. Giving money to someone who hopes to see the PS3 become a pirate bay... oh, irony of ironies.

I thought you could still play PS3 games - you just wouldn't be able to play them online.Niode wrote: That's not a choice. It's an ultimatum. Have linux and no PS3 games, or have PS3 games and no linux. It's not a choice.
It doesn't matter though, at the end of the day they're removing features from the PS3 that I paid for. Under consumer rights (I called them today regarding this) I am in my rights to demand at least a partial refund from them. Trading standards will back me up.

Re: Sony removing OtherOS feature in 3.21 PS3 update
really? It certainly doesn't seem like as big a problem as with 360 and PS3? At least it hasn't been as publicized if it is...videogameexperiment wrote:
Wii's can overheat as well. This is actually a lot of instances of it.

The Wii doesn't use as much processing power, so it's not going to happen as bad.noiseredux wrote: really? It certainly doesn't seem like as big a problem as with 360 and PS3? At least it hasn't been as publicized if it is...
The Wii does has other problems, though. I've seen more than a few people have problems with the disc drive - myself included. I had to send my Wii in to get a Gamecube game out.

I think this depends on the game mostly. A lot of games have updates that require Playstation network in order to download the latest game update. So if you aren't able to access the Playstation network, you won't be able to update the game, and therefore not be able to play it.the7k wrote:I thought you could still play PS3 games - you just wouldn't be able to play them online.

Remember the earlier April Fools Leap Year lockup? PS3 Games would not play off line either. Someone has a leash on us.the7k wrote:I thought you could still play PS3 games - you just wouldn't be able to play them online.
As far as online purchased games, account can be transfered. But support will eventually go away when PS4 takes over. Your purchased downloads, consider them a rental. I'll stick with PS2 with original Discs vs a temporary digital download. I feel the same way about another can of worms, Valve Steam. You buy the software, just may not have it years later.

Game might have run if not initially connected online that day.

Re: Sony removing OtherOS feature in 3.21 PS3 update
The thing is I don't even want to pirate games on my PS3, I just want the functionality that I paid for. Being forced to break the law to get the functionality I paid for is ridiculous. Sony shouldn't be able to do this. It doesn't matter whether 0.000001% of people use the feature. It's still a feature of the device that we paid for, they have NO RIGHT to remove features I paid for.the7k wrote:http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/id ... re-update/

They better not be, I payed for that feature, if they remove it, I am going to E-mail and call until I am compensated from my original purchase price.
