I don't understand why people are up in arms about shovelware coming out on the Wii. A company put up their own money to develop/publish the game. If they don't make money, well, they won't make those type of games anymore.

The question I ask for those who complain is "Would you rather have some sort of review board that determines what game can/can't be released on the platform?" If I recall correctly, there were many instances of censorship/restrictions by Nintendo back in the NES days. I think having a more open platform is the right thing to do.

Well from what I've observed, Nintendo and third parties alike have focused there resources to the Nintendo DS. There have been more games with an aggregate score of 85 and above on Metacritic. And I don't blame them. It is easier and cheaper to produce games for a portable system than any of the consoles.

You vastly overestimate the intelligence of the average American.

YOU vastly overestimate the intelligence of people in general.

I try to stay optimistic about people but I am always proven wrong...

That's what "concept approval" is. Microsoft has it, Sony has it (though they recently lifted it on the ps2), Nintendo had it until the Wii came out.

Remember, Daikatana made it through "content approval".

You have to have a really really terrible idea to not make it through concept approval.

So we're agreed that content approval means nothing.
