Where are the VGA patches for the Dreamcast?

Post by Hamburglar »

Hey guys, I was going by the VGA guide on this website and it says some games are patchable for VGA use if the game didn't originally support it. For example, I want to play Mortal Kombat Gold on VGA which is supported by a patch. I tried googling but I can't find where I get this patch or how I apply it?

I'd really appreciate some help! Thanks!

There's a lot of generic patchers for DC games that support VGA patching, but this one is my favorite. You can feed it the CDI file directly.

That worked great, thanks so much.

I just noticed my 1st controller port doesn't work any more, only port 2-4 does. I know I saw a great guide on fixing this with the fuse thing a long time ago but after googling there seems to be a lot of half-assed guides and a lot of people nitpicking other guides and what they recommend to be used. Can someone point me to the guide everyone here seems to swear by for fixing blown controller ports?

This is usually the cause for blown controller ports. But first make sure the port isn't simply loose. Its very common for controllers to not function when the cord is inserted at an angle. Jiggle it a little bit and test the buttons.

I have used that fix successfully several times but only when none of the ports work, in fact I never heard of just one port not working

You guys are all right. It isn't a blown fuse because when I push the controller plug in REALLY hard, it works.

Is there a fix for THIS problem?

If the contacts simply expanded, try bending them back in shape again. A more drastic measure would be to smear light layers of solder on the contacts to make damn sure they touch when connected. I did that on the A/C jack for my NES once. It would turn off if the wire was even slightly touched.

You'll have to see why aren't they making contact and bend pins accordingly to make it work again.
