I listen to mostly punk rock, early classic rock, 50's/60's rock n roll, and some old school rap.

As much as I enjoy video games they will never come close to my main love which is music. I collect records, have my own label & mail order, work as a publicist for another label, play in a few bands, etc. As far as the type of music I prefer, I mainly listen to indie rock and the various sub genres attached to it like shoegaze, lo fi, indie pop, etc. But I also am really into punk rock (older stuff), post punk and jazz. Here are some of my faves:

I get all my music from the radio, I'm too cheap to pay for music over games.

Haha you remind me of my 'analog' years  Have boxes of cassettes that I won't even bother digitising. Any ideas? :D

Good, except:

A) The Cramps isn't listed. They were one of, if not the absolute, first band to fit the psychobilly genre. And try to NOT sing such songs as "Naked Girl Falling Down the Stairs" or "Like a Bad Girl Should" (which begins with the line "I love your ass/For bad or worse" and such lines as "I blow a gasket for your pink jellybean/Your picnic basket splits my spleen", or in the video when Lux buries his face in a picnic basket resting between Ivy's open legs). And I need I mention "Surfin Dead" and "Human Fly" and "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns" and "Ultra Twist"?

B) You also need to add Wednesday 13 to the list, especially if you're a horror buff. Their album "Transylvania 90210" has a track called "Buried by Christmas", where the frontman asks Santa for a casket (a custom-built one with a black velvet interior) and a bucket of chicken. And later tells Santa that "[his] fat-ass better have me a freshly dug grave". That and some of his other albums include songs based on such films as Halloween (the track "Haddonfield"), An American Werewolf in London (a track of the same name), and Return of the Living Dead (again, a track of the same name).

C) If you love these bands, also check out The Phenomenauts. They're sound is more electronic and sci-fi-themed than The Cramps and not as hard as Wednesday 13 (whose sound is like punk meets metal), but they're really good. Their music is described as rocket roll, a mix of rockabilly, surf rock, punk and various rock subgenres.

D) If you like steampunk, check out the albums from Abney Park, though only "Lost Horizons" and "Aether Shanties", since all pre-"Lost Horizons" are before their steampunk direction change. Prior to this, they were a goth band, but adopted the steampunk aesthetic (and a new backstory) since "Lost Horizons". I've got both albums, and I can't wait until their next album.

Now, next time you post, can we expect to see these artists on your list?

Have I replied to this thread already? Can't remember...anyhow..

I listen to hardcore punk, early US hardcore, anarcho punk, crust, grindcore, crossover, thrash, speed metal, NWoBHM, doom metal, sludge, black metal, stoner metal, death metal...stuff like that. I like a little bit of classic rock but not a lot, old surf like the Trashmen and Dick Dale, industrial, gothic rock, death rock...that pretty much covers it. I like classical too, mostly german/austrian dudes.
