Also, with the DSi, it seems really cool, but until there are a bunch of good DSware games or DSi exclusives I don't really see any point in getting one. I'm still waiting for a DS Super Smash Brothers. :(
dude, if the DS went all digital it would just be like the PSP go.

The DS go anybody?

no, screw that, I would rather have the option at least so I can play thingies on a DSSD card.

Also, I still like my virtual boy idea :D

Yep, it's official alright. It's even on the Nintendo site now: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2010/100323e.pdf

It's set for release before March 2011 in Japan. So I suspect it will take around half a year or more before it reaches Western shores, seeing how the DSi XL didn't come out in the US/Europe until it had already been out in Japan for 11 months or so.

Still, this sounds like some pretty crazy stuff. 3D without glasses? I didn't know the tech for that existed yet...
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

We can has ports of Telero-boxer, Nester's Funky Bowling, and Wario World for the Virtual Boy?

In all honesty, 3D has been nothing more than a gimmick in my eyes. However, the fact they can do it without glasses blows my mind. Next questions- the price, and how long it will be before a lite version comes out.

Maybe its the next new motion activity plus deluxe mode, rapidly left-right winking of eyes. :D

Okay how many just tried it after reading my joke?

Curious how that 3D will be pulled off.

Meh. Not sure how I feel about this. Nintendo announces a new DS about every six months now, on average. I barely play my DS anymore. Just not that into it. I have an iphone and I don't play games all that much on it, but it is nice to have them with me at all times. I'm just not that into portable gaming anymore.

I disagree. The original DS launch was pretty near simultaneous across regions. It's only been the spinoffs that have been coming to the US slower. I'd suspect Nintendo will try to get this everywhere at the same time because of how different it's supposed to be.

I can't wait to see what this looks like.

I can speculate based on the worst-case scenario. I don't know if it's just rumor or what, but apparently the two screens are supposed to have only a fairly small gap between them. I am afraid that the 3D will be stereogram-based. In that case, one would have to hold the DS sideways so that the screens are side by side and cross one's eyes. Done properly, that would yield a single-screen 3D image. One would have to hold the DS probably near arm's length to make this comfortable.

Hopefully they have a much better solution than that, though.

Agree 100%. I think portable gaming market will eventually be only on cell phones, always conveniently with you.

That could be, or maybe M. C. Esher illusion inspired approach?
