C&C4: El Terrible Edition

No not even the venerable Joseph D. Kucan has been able to save this entry from impending critical "lambastation" (feel free to 'shop this image ). I was actually looking forward to this after the mediocre RA3 but it seems they've ruined the core gameplay and they've certainly not won anyone over by using the stupid always-on DRM

What the hell was GameInformer thinking giving this 78%

Is that Kane? Just like Dick Clark, the guy does not age.

Yeah, I played the beta and didn't care for the gameplay, but I still had to get it. There's something compelling about the C&C Tiberium storyline that always brings me back, so I need to see it to its conclusion.

Also, I can't figure out why everyone seems to rag on RA3.

Same here, I loved the single player campaign of RA3+Uprising. How can you resist Tim Curry with his amazingly campy Russian accent and Ric Flair?! Best cut-scenes in a game ever!

I have yet to find something Tim Curry has done that I haven't liked. And you can't forget George Takei as the Emperor.

Who did Ric Flair play?

RA3 was just more like Generals then RA2. I hated it when I first played it in the beta, but over time have realized that it is just because it has a bigger learning curve than I am use to (the fact it was right click only for awhile didnt help). I still like RA2 the most though.

From what Ive seen about C&C4 I am not interested in the least. Online to play singleplayer campaign, I can live with. No LAN play, I dont like but I can live with. Grinding to unlock units/upgrades, I dislike but ok. All three together = no buy.

Akways-on DRM in PC games will mean less sales = even less big bidget PC releases. The cutscenes in RA3 were the only thing that kept me going; one can never have enough Tim Curry  But when the dust settled from the campaign I found little else to do in the game. The fact that I skirmished many hours in C&C3 whilst barely scratching the same mode in RA3 signaled to me the two aren't of the same calibre.
