Nevertheless Metro 2033 is far busier and far more accomplished than I expected it to be, and it's also one of the best-looking games - at least in a few very special scenes - on the Xbox 360.
Combine these technical achievements with a game that has been carefully written, and lavishly imagined, and you start to get close to a sort of negative image of BioShock. While everything in Rapture is lurid and fantastical, here there is only grit, and blood, and suffocation.
Whether that's what you're looking for, well, that's up to you.

Another ace game for the obligatory summer drought!
How was I not aware of this? I guess it's another game to add to my "week of hell" release schedule. Seriously, I've got Dragon Age, Pokemon, C&C4, Resonance of Fate, Infinite Space, and now this. At least the majority of April is empty.

And Call of Pripyat.
Oh yeah. Well, I only have the first 2 so far and I haven't touched Stalker in a few months since I got the PS3, and the fixed 360, and now my top two Compile scavenger hunt games...
Holy hell, this game is swimming in atmosphere. Remember how creeped out you were in ShoC's X18 lab? The entire game has the same level of atmosphere. And the attention to detail is phenomenal; walking through the metro stations feels like a real post-apoc town. And you need to be careful with your gas mask; too many hits will rupture it, rendering it useless. Also, unlike STALKER, so far I haven't had any issues with the engine. No random crashes, and it looks phenomenal.
But don't get the 360 version. Take a look at some comparison screenshots; the 360 is horribly nerfed from a graphical standpoint.

It's the computer I built three years ago. The game picks up a lot on framerates because all the environments are so claustrophobic; open spaces are the number one FPS killer.
