God of War III

Post by dsheinem »

I sprung for the Ultimate Edition at midnight last night - anyone else pick it up? Who's playing?

I've only had time to play about an hour so far but am already quite impressed. This series and the Devil May Cry series were easily my favorite games last generation, but so far God of War 3 has impressed me much more than DMC4 did (GOW3 has done a better job of making the leap in terms of both visuals and gameplay). So far the high review scores I've been seeing pop up seem to be spot on...

I played the E3 Demo and loved it. I hated that it ended with a cliffhanger though. Oh my god, that was so @#$%&! up.

I have had the demo on my District 9 Blu-Ray for some time but avoided playing it as I'd rather just play the whole finished version at once. From what I've read, the final version is leaps and bounds better than the demo. Here's some graphical comparisons, for one: http://kotaku.com/5489832/god-of-war-ii ... e/gallery/

That's pretty cool. I love comparison screenshots.

I preordered the special edition once it was announced. Is the extra stuff worth it? Particularly the box. I bought a 12 inch talking figure of kratos on clearance some comic store. Mostly because the idea of a Kratos being in the form of a toystory character, with "dynamic talking action" was hilariously absurd to me. Anyways, I thought having pandora's box with him would be awesome. I've been playing through the collection again, hopefully finish it before I pick up my copy of 3 today or tomorrow.

the ultimate edition is alright. I'm disappointed that the soundtracks and movie are dlc and not actual discs. the box is cool. haven't played the game yet, I still need to beat gow 2 first  all in all, i'm not sure if it was worth $100 bucks though.

That' what has me torn. I'm picking it up tomorrow but I'm still not sure it's worth that much for just a box. Unless of course the box is amazing. Paying for DLC vouchers is frustrating.

I played the game for about an hour today. It's really hard to talk about the game without bringing up the visuals but they really are a showcase. The opening in particular looks really fantastic. The gameplay feels just as great as the other games and I am really looking forward to playing the rest of the game.

in my opinion the box is kinda cool but at the same time it kind of looks like a cheap plastic thing you'd find at a drug store during a halloween sale. the box alone is certainly not worth $40. I'm seriously considering selling my ultimate edition on ebay and just buying the regular game.
