Don't know if related but a thought.
My Gamecube and PS2 when hooked up to Component, default to native Non-HD Composite resolution and shows that display through the Component cable. The Component cable is detected by the game console so I can manually change to 480p resolution and see it switch from non-hd resolution to 480p all with just component attached.
Okay what I am leading up to in my mad thought is that if you pick up video with that composite hookup, perhaps your XBox is still set at the native Non-HD resolution. Shouldn't that same Non-HD resolution also appear thru the component cable? Since XBox can then detect the component cable the option (doesn't show up with composite cable) now appears to switch to 480p. Whew! I'm confused on what I just typed!
Any luck on that Three dollar Gamestop XBox only Component Cable link?

Re: Component Orig. Xbox hookup help.
Alright, I found the problem. I am the biggest idiot
. I forgot there is a SD-HD switch on those cables. I hate it when I do all this work and the solution is right in front of me
. Now I am off to play Shenmue II.
Thanks to all that helped.
