However, I did buy FF7 the day it came out, and still own the same copy. I only mention it because it was mentioned in the OP.
We're not worthy, we're not worthy! Behold the glory of an original FFVII owner. You're one in a million (of several million that also got it when it was released).

I should note that I did not but FF VII at launch. I just got it last year. Incidentally, did that game come with any swag if you pre-ordered it?

I recall it came with a poster.

Just trying to answer an inquiry. I'm aware that buying at launch doesn't add inches to your dick or make you a better human being.

I'm pretty sure buying a dreamcast on launch day adds 2". I actually rented mine from hollywood video before it came out in august. So that adds another 1". Thanks to Sega, I'm up to 4 inches!

nice, isn't it?

the only game i've ever purchased at launch was Fable for oXbox. after that i decided i'd be better off not blowing my money on something without reading the reviews first.

god, i hate fable.

How long do you think a current gen launch day game would add?

i think it depends on the game and proof. Not much of added value unless there is a unique exclusive launch extra such as a bonus disc or special case or something.

I bought the Launch Iron Man DVD exclusive Hot Rod Tin box when it came out. One of the few times I would shop at overpriced F.Y.E. Years to come added value? who knows I just like that tin.

Time to rant. Hate so many various exclusives Target has one, Best Buy and Wally-mart another. Wally-mart bonus extras usually packed in with just the Full Screen version only. Frustrating! To get all those bonus extras, one has to buy 3 different copies of the same movie. Look at original Transformers, I know crappy story but great special effects.
Buy now or wait another 6 months for the Directors Cut? Bawa, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha now I need to be sent to the Psychiatric ward.

One thing that can't be disputed - getting stuff on launch day feels good (man).

It's just an exciting feeling to play something the very day it comes out. It indicates that you need to play it as soon as you can. Usually as well it means something to look forward to which makes it all the more of an occassion when the game comes out.
