Probably, but can iTunes play all the game music formats? If not, that right there is something I REQUIRE. The plugins are always for Winamp and nothing else.

But still, all this syncing, database, library, whatever stuff just wouldn't benefit me personally. I can imagine that it would help out people with just huge folders of misc songs they grabbed on eMule or whatever P2P people use today. But those of us that use FTPs and torrents to get albums, they already come in neat organized folders.

Well, then WinAmp is probably better for you.
We have pretty different priorities for music management.
If I do DL some stuff, I just use iTunes to clean up the tags and organize it for me.

First of all Thanks Mozguz for doing this thread seriously I was searching around for a good mp3 or mp4 or ipod or whatever new player. I got an old rca lyra

Its been good to me over the years. I don't own exactly that one I own the 128mb version upgradeable thru sd up to 1gb. I got a 360 everybody says that I should get a zune but I don't know I liked the ipod but I'm with you with the whole itunes and the zune software (that causes problems when installing) I still use winamp for all my media needs. That meizu player looks great and even plays videos I'm gonna check that one out and if its plug and play, drag and drop thats a big 10.

My MP3 player of choice is the Creative Zen Vision: M, Creative is my favorite choice when it comes to MP3 players.
It allows one to play videos aswell, and the audio quality is the best. Hell, it's even compatible with everything made for the iPod (ie. iDock).
The only thing that I don't like about it that I have to install software. Although, I think the new firmware I DLed for it allows Windows to view it as an HD.

Me too. 5.5gen iPod 30gb. I got about 3 gb left. Sucks, cause when I got it I only had 15gb of music. It quickly grew...

I have a 4th gen B&W 20 gig iPod that somehow still has battery life left. I don't use it for music because I'm very picky and I find the iPod interface poorly suited to picky listeners. I use it, instead, for podcasts and books on mp3 for my 1+ hr drive to my graduate classes.

I'm glad with the educational discount and rebate it only cost $80, because I'm not sure how much more than that I'd have been willing to pay.

Yep. Steve Jobs pretty much already has my money. It's like he knows my debit card number by heart....

All I wanted was a flash-based full iPod. But the new models are basically an iPhone without the phone. I'm probably going to get one here pretty quick.

As for iTunes vs. WinAamp - it's funny but I always read about this debate in forums and blogs and both sides say the other program is too restrictive or doesn't have enough features. I think it's like like music itself: just comes down to personal preference and taste. I know a lot of people don't like iTunes because everything is DRM'ed. But I buy 98 percent of my music in a very durable and completely unrestricted format: compact disc. iTunes works fine for simply storing and organizing everything in my collection. And I'll admit I have technolust when it comes these new iPods/iPhones. I should resist, but I cannot.
