Metal Slug Anthology PSP question

Post by Anayo »

I have a modded PSP with a Neo Geo emulator on it. I use it to play Metal Slug 2.

It looks great, but the framerate goes to hell when there's a lot of stuff at the screen at once. Other than being a little annoying it's totally playable, but I do wonder... is the framerate any better on the official Metal Slug Anthology game for the PSP? If so, I might consider buying it.

Not really, the frame rate dips pretty badly on the Anthology also.

I would consider the Wii or PS2 versions instead. The PSP version really suffered from various technical issues.

I've got the PS2 version already, I just thought it'd be really kickin' to be able to play it on the go. Maybe I will have to wait for the PSP2 or DS2 to do that though. XD

Why stop with that? I want a working handheld Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn too. :P

The framerate issues on the psp may be handled by boosting the cpu speed to 333mhz .

Yeah, I've played MS1, 2, 3 and X on my PSP and not had any significant slowdown issues. I do run mine at 333mhz though. Try putting frameskip to 2 or 3 frames. That should allow you to keep the response high without impacting visual quality too much.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try fiddling with the clock speed and frame skip settings on my emulator. Then I'll post and report how it went.
