Scooter wrote:I got a free black Sega Sports Dreamcast from my brother. He bought a lot of 6 broken machines and fixed 5 of them easily. Three were black units and he knew I've been looking for one so he gave me one. It's got a few scratches on the case, but it cleaned up well and works just great.
If any of them couldn't read discs, PLEASE tell me how he was able to fix them. Otherwise, nice pickup.

i have never posted on this thread because i just never find any good finds worth mentioning. however, i did stumble on this today at my local new-to-you-store:

aladdin
altered beast
boogerman
bubsy II
kid chameleon
sonic
sonic 2
streets of rage 2

all genesis, all complete, all carts are in diesel shape, but some boxes/manuals are a bit roughed up. nothing serious though. all for 10 dollars.

i also saw a sega cdx, cib snatcher, and a shit load of other sega cd games just lying on the floor at my local flea market. the owner wouldn't let me buy them because he hadn't priced them out yet. i never thought i would see a cdx and snatcher in the wild, and it is a shame to see them both on the floor and people just walking right over them. but the owner did say that he would hold them for me once he priced them out. which i am sure he will shit his pants when he looks up the prices for them.
if you took a shit, please put it back

talk about mixed emotions. you see somewhat rare/sough after gaming merchandise...but they are just sitting on cement basically right in the aisle. i did not want to act overly excited when i brought them to the owner because any emotion might give suspicion to value. and i am just hoping that he doesn't look up the prices and just throws down 10 bucks for each of them.

but i know he will look them up on ebay and i know he will overcharge for them and i know i will not purchase them. so to be honest, they can sit on the floor for all i care.

yea i know how ya feel, but itll never hurt to bullshit with em ya know

I scored a 3DO from a pawn shop last summer, guy wasen't sure what to do with it senice he never tried it out, I pluged it in and the laser wasen't moving, all it was that it was stuck and just had to be pushed out, told him it wouldn't play anything senice the laser wouldnt move, so I asked if I could get from him so I could use it for parts, got 10 for it and with a few seconds work I had a working 3DO :D

I've been in situations like that. You should really try "shock and awe." The way it works is you attempt to shock and awe them by offering an amount of money that's below the true value of the game, but far above what a typical video game costs.

I've scored FFVII for $20 and Panzer Dragoon Saga for $100 using "shock and awe."

when i first brought the cdx up to him he told me that he never tested it out, which was the original reason why there was no price on it yet. i told him i'll take my chances, just lay down a price. that is when he gave his alternative reason: "i don't know anything about it. i need to look it up."

i can't wait to see what he wants for it. i am guessing around $175-200.

for a split second i thought about doing the "shock and awe" method. but i just decided against it for some reason. he seemed pretty set that he needed to look it up first.
