Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
Re: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
I don't think this game uses the Gamecube controller. I tried it a few times and got nothing from it. I don't know whether a classic controller works or not, seeing as I don't have one, but I find the Wii Remote with a piece of plastic pretty fun. I personally like drifting with the B button more than the 1 button, but that's just me.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

Every cart racer sucks to me since I played Crash Team Racing.

You can use a classic controller but the GC controller is not supported. I prefer drifting with the 'B' button as well rather than breaking my thumb by trying to hold '1' and '2' at the same time. At first I found it weird though. I found that I had to totally wrap my thumb more around the button and press harder than in Mario Kart (that's maybe the weirdest sentence I've ever typed but I hope you get what I meanJosh wrote:I don't think this game uses the Gamecube controller. I got this on PS3 and love it.Just like superstar tennis this does SEGA fans justice.I cant believe toejam and earl were scheduled to appear but a deal couldnt be thrashed out.So that will be DLC then.
Havent tried online yet as it took ages to find the matches and lost the will.
Im halfway thru the missions and find them entertaining and have already done all the grand prix's.

360, hence Banjo being playable. He's exclusive to the 360 version.jfe2 wrote:I play it on the 360 and the drifting feels fine IMO. What console did you play the demo on? Maybe the controls don't feel as good on other consoles or something.Niode wrote:I tried the demo and hated the handling. Considering this is by the same company that made the outrun reboot (Sumo digital) it's quite disappointing. Of course that might be because the two characters playable in the demo (Banjo and Sonic) have particularly crap handling cars but the drift mechanic just didn't stick with me at all. It just doesn't seem responsive enough.
Mario Kart Wii has much tighter handling (when you don't use a piece of plastic attached to the remote, seriously why do you use that piece of crap? Just get a classic controller or a gamecube/wavebird controller 100x better)
To be fair though, I haven't played Mario Kart Wii yet, so maybe I just don't know what I'm missing!

Ah, that didn't click with me for some reason!Niode wrote:360, hence Banjo being playable. He's exclusive to the 360 version.jfe2 wrote:I play it on the 360 and the drifting feels fine IMO. I haven't really used Banjo too much. I've stuck with playing as my avatar mostly, and messed around as Knuckles once I unlocked him.

Re: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
To my understanding, this game is when happens when you mix F-Zero and Mario Kart. Also, just to be clear, is NiGHTS going to make it in through DLC, or not? That's one thing that made me mad about this game. When I first heard about it, I thought, "Oh, it'll be cool to play as NiGHTS", since I automatically assumed he(?) would be in there. I couldn't comprehend NiGHTS NOT being in this game.
Re: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
The character from NiGHTS is in the game as the flag waver at the start of the race. I would love to see him as a playable character though! Does anyone know anything about any potential DLC? I remember reading that it would be made available, but I'm not sure how it will manifest in game.
I did just order Sega All-Star Tennis from Amazon.com for $8 shipped, and I read that he is a character in that game. I don't remember hearing much about it, but my wife heard about it and was really interested in playing. Thank god for Sega, because there didn't seem to be any hope in sight as far as her ever wanting to play video games before ASR came out. Now she has made me order Samba de Amigo, the maracas controller for Dreamcast, and Sega All-Star Tennis!

Re: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
I was thinking of getting this game for the Wii, but after seeing Banjo as a 360 exclusive character, and we no Wii exclusive (Mii's dont count) I think I will be going with the 360 version.
