Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing

I got this game the other day and it's fun! Anyone else been playing it? Thoughts etc?

I bought the Wii version which came with the blue Wii Wheel. I was worried it would come off worse compared to the 360/PS3 versions but it holds up well.
The only things I'm disappointed about are: - no 2-player 'co-op' online and no 2-player cup competitions. The only option is to play battle modes (which admittedly I've not tried out yet) or single races. This is the sort of game that's way more fun in 2 player so I dunno why they skimped on the modes :( .
Also, no Shenmue tracks. Where's my Dobuita track or New Yokosuka Harbour? Oh well, Ryo and Beat are at least included and there's a few JSRF tracks :)
No DLC on the Wii either. If they put Segata Sanshiro down for DLC I might become the first person in history to buy a PS3 to play this game!

I've been playing this for the past few days and I have had a blast with it so far! My wife actually asked me to buy it for our 360, as she is a huge fan of the Mario Kart series.

It's sad that most reviews have pegged it as being "just alright". Hopefully that doesn't keep people from trying it out! It's a great game that probably would be seen as a classic had it come out for the Dreamcast.

Got mine on Wii, using my white wii wheel that came with MKWii and it seems to be working fine for me.

Yeah, no Shenmue tracks is sad, but everything about this game is great.

Other than being a Sega fanboy, should I buy this game over MarkKart Wii?

Despite what reviewers say, it's actually it's own unique game. Think of it like this, Mario Kart, mixed with the loop-de-loops, thrills, and track design of F-Zero, and the wackiness that any good Sega game would have. At least in my opinion.

It plays very similarly. Arguably the characters are better because instead of Baby Peach and Toadette (a plague on Mario Kart, imo) you get Sonic, Ryo, Beat, Ulala, Akira etc...
So being a Sega fanboy will only increase your enjoyment of the game.
Online matchmaking is a bit clunkier but at least the weapons aren't as constant and there's no blue shell!

I tried the demo and hated the handling. Considering this is by the same company that made the outrun reboot (Sumo digital) it's quite disappointing. Of course that might be because the two characters playable in the demo (Banjo and Sonic) have particularly crap handling cars but the drift mechanic just didn't stick with me at all. It just doesn't seem responsive enough.

Mario Kart Wii has much tighter handling (when you don't use a piece of plastic attached to the remote, seriously why do you use that piece of crap? Just get a classic controller or a gamecube/wavebird controller 100x better)

I haven't played it yet with a conventional controller set-up so I don't know what it feels like that way. Using the wheel, at first I thought driting felt a bit weird since I was used to Mario Kart, but I've quickly gotten used to it and now it feels fine (just different).

And generally I find using the wheel more fun and intuitive although I must admit its lack of precision at times has caused me to ragequit and switch to the GC control. On the whole however I like using the wheel.

I play it on the 360 and the drifting feels fine IMO. What console did you play the demo on? Maybe the controls don't feel as good on other consoles or something.

To be fair though, I haven't played Mario Kart Wii yet, so maybe I just don't know what I'm missing!
