My mom, though never much for videogames generally speaking, had some crazy fast times on minesweeper. I think she beat the small mine field in 8 seconds.

Hmm...I sometimes do it but not that often. Off the top of my head, God of War 1 in 3 hours.

Only thing I speed-run ever is the first level of Sonic the Hedgehog at 00:27 - I think the best time is 00:25, which I've never been able to get because I can never time this jump on the first loop right to make it go faster, and then I've managed to cut down time on the one big jump near the end of the stage, but not to the extent that Mr. 00:25 was able to. Still, it's a cool little thing to do to impress friends.

Back in the dark old days before the internet was mainstream, videogame rumors were near impossible to prove or disprove without just trying them out for yourself. Even gamefaqs had a lot of broken cheats. But now, thank goodness, it's not like that anymore. I remember when I tried for hours to unlock the "secret last level unlocked in Medal of Honor: Rising Sun" that you get by winning every medal. It's not real, and I caused myself much unneeded frustration.

I can beat Super Mario World (SNES) in about 15-17 minutes via warps.

Don't know if that's much of an accomplishment, though. I'd imagine that many people can speedrun that game because so many owned it.

Yeah, I feel sorry for me too. That game was so lame, with many cheesy moments, and plenty of unrealism. No soldier could clear out an entire temple of Japanese soldiers by himself. Medal of Honor jumped the shark with Rising Sun, IMO. Nothing that came after that matched the quality of the first games. :(
