Did not think of that - I want the PSP mostly for emulation so maybe I should save on the Memory Stick.

Well, yes. The charging cable I have plugs into the USB port of my computer and the other end plugs into the DC-in port on the PSP. The cable came as part of a Pelican accessory pack. If I don't have the PSP on at the time it charges it up in 3-4 hours, about the same speed as the wall charger (which I hardly ever use).

To be clear, I was referring to a USB CHARGING cable, not a USB DATA cable.

Well, let me morph this into another related question. The info from the seller is basically that the DC-in doesn't work (he believes this as he bought a replacement charger and it didn't work either, so the problem would be from the PSP - seems like a sensible conclusion). Do you guys think there is an easy fix for that? Hard to tell I guess.

Obviously there is another workaround on top of charging - getting an "external" charger for the battery (requires taking out the battery every time I want to charge it of course). Anyway this PSP Slim I think I can get for 75 Eur, with a genuine 2 Gb card included and no scratches or dead pixels in the screen.
It's not a great deal as it has the problem, but I think it is a good deal as the best I could really hope for a similar PSP without the problem would be 90 Eur and that would require a bit of luck. I think these 2004 model Slims with a card usually go for 100 or even 110.

So, I accept advice from you guys (Europeans will have a bit more sensitivity to the prices discussed, I guess).

It seems kind of high to me for a PSP that cannot charge the normal way. Are you sure you can't find one cheaper? About 3-4 months ago, I bought 2 PSPs in great condition. 1 PSP-1000 for $60. 1 PSP-2000 with hard case for $75. They both had 1GB memory sticks.

I would pass on it and keep looking for one with a working DC input unless you can get it for really cheap ($40).

I think they tend to be cheaper in the U.S., as they're cheaper new to begin with.

In the rare occasions I see a permanently hackable Slim for 90 Euros in good condition they will probably be already spoken for (there was once where it was advertised for some hours when I saw it, and I contacted the seller and it was already in the transaction process). I've seen some for 100 and not received info back from the seller so I assume they also had been "spoken for" at the time (although possibly not as fast as some hours, they definitively seem to sell). I typically see the ones advertised for 120 and higher repeatedly advertised (unless the package has several extras).

So I would think of it as a base 100 for a Slim with a 2 or 4 G memory card, and see this as a 25% discount for the inconvenience of the charging issue. The screen is supposed to be flawless (if it turns out it isn't then it's no deal for sure).

PSP fats are a bit cheaper granted (particularly the pink ones I think ;) ).
